CFD Analysis and Optimization of the DEMO WCLL Central Outboard Segment Bottom-Cap Elementary Cell
In the design of magnetic confinement nuclear fusion power plants, the breeding blanket (BB) plays a crucial role since it must fulfil key functions such as tritium breeding, radiation-shielding, and removal of the heat power generated by the plasma. The

Analysis of Test D1.1 of the LIFUS5/Mod3 facility for In-box LOCA in WCLL-BB
Abstract The in-box Loss of Coolant Accident (LOCA) scenario is considered as one of the most affecting safety concerns for the Water-Cooled Lead Lithium Breeding Blanket (WCLL-BB) modules of the DEMOnstration (DEMO) reactor, which is sequentially followed by a multi-phase multi-component physical and chemical interaction.

Abstract The In-box LOCA for the WCLL-BB is recognized as a Design Basis Accident (DBA) and is of substantial interest to the DEMOnestration reactor design, therefore, the transient response of such an accident must be carefully investigated and addressed to ensure the safe operation and integrity of the whole system.

Abstract The in-box LOCA (Loss of Coolant Accident) is a relevant safety issue for the design of the WCLL BB. Research activities are ongoing to master phenomena and processes occurring during the postulated accident, to enhance the predictive capability and reliability of numerical tools, and to validate computer models, codes and procedures for ...

DEMO WCLL breeding zone cooling system design: Analysis and discussion
Abstract The Water-Cooled Lithium-Lead (WCLL) Breeding Blanket (BB) is a key component in charge of ensuring Tritium self-sufficiency, shielding the Vacuum Vessel and removing the generated power of DEMO reactor. The last function is fulfilled by two independent cooling systems: First Wall (FW) that removes the plasma heat flux and Breeding Zone (BZ)
