Clinical, Histologic, and Serological Predictors of Renal Function Loss in Lupus Nephritis

open access: yesArthritis Care &Research, EarlyView.
Objective Kidney survival is the ultimate goal in lupus nephritis (LN) management, but long‐term predictors remain inadequately studied, requiring long‐term follow‐up. This study aimed to identify baseline and early longitudinal predictors of kidney survival in the Accelerating Medicines Partnership LN longitudinal cohort.

ZiZhu Generic Continuous Weak Non-Existence of Sections Theorem

open access: yes
This paper investigates the generic structure of smooth functions on compact smooth moduli spaces, revealing that, in a typical sense, global sections of finite complexity do not exist. This conclusion carries direct physical significance: in Higgs gauge theory, it corresponds to the non-flatness of the vacuum moduli space SU(2)/U(1) ≃ S2, thereby ...

Frailty Predicts Incident Osteoporotic Fractures in Veterans with Rheumatoid Arthritis

open access: yesArthritis Care &Research, Accepted Article.
Background/Objective Rheumatoid arthritis (RA) is associated with an increased risk of frailty and osteoporosis, but the relationship between frailty and incident osteoporotic fractures in RA is underexplored. Methods Data were from the Veterans Affairs Rheumatoid Arthritis (VARA) Registry.

Characterization of Defect Distribution in an Additively Manufactured AlSi10Mg as a Function of Processing Parameters and Correlations with Extreme Value Statistics

open access: yesAdvanced Engineering Materials, EarlyView.
Predicting extreme defects in additive manufacturing remains a key challenge limiting its structural reliability. This study proposes a statistical framework that integrates Extreme Value Theory with advanced process indicators to explore defect–process relationships and improve the estimation of critical defect sizes. The approach provides a basis for

Carboxylic‐Acid Functionalized Multiwalled Carbon Nanotube‐Alkane‐Based Resistive Temperature Sensor for Cold Chain Applications

open access: yesAdvanced Engineering Materials, EarlyView.
This study presents a reversible temperature sensor with high switching ratio, ∼103. The device is fabricated using PET‐ITO and carbon nanotube dispersions in alkane. Considering its application in cold chain logistics, a proof‐of‐concept with LED is showcased. Thus, a temperature drop below the threshold temperature (crystallization temperature of the

Proper Generalized Decomposition for non Convex semilinear problems [PDF]

open access: yes, 2015
In this work, Proper Generalized Decomposition (PGD) is studied for a class of non-convex semilinear elliptic problems. Using the Nehari manifold, we show how to recover the weak semi-continuity property of the associated energy and get a well-defined ...

Continuidad en estructuras débiles generalizadas. (Continuity in Generalized Weak Structures.)

open access: yes, 2015

Evaluating Energy Absorption Performance of Filled Lattice Structures

open access: yesAdvanced Engineering Materials, EarlyView.
Maximum stress must be considered to robustly evaluate energy absorber designs. This approach was applied to compare all types of absorbers in a single Ashby diagram and determine the utility of filling lattice voids with a second material. High‐performance fillers can improve the performance of lattices that are limited by buckling or catastrophic ...

Asymptotic Normality of Extreme Value Estimators on C[0,1]

open access: yes
Consider n i.i.d. random elements on C[0; 1].We show that under an appropriate strengthening of the domain of attraction condition natural estimators of the extreme-value index, which is now a continuous function, and the normalizing functions have a ...

Solid‐State Diffusion and Intermetallic Phase Formation in Roll‐Bonded Mg–Zn Composites With Kirigami‐Patterned Inlay

open access: yesAdvanced Engineering Materials, EarlyView.
Mg–Zn composites with a thickness of 0.21 mm were fabricated using roll bonding of a kirigami‐patterned Mg alloy inlay within a Zn matrix. Thermal activation following this process led to the formation of tailored intermetallic structures, which provided the composite with enhanced flexural strength.
