Weak crossover and move ? in Japanese

Natural Language and Linguistic Theory, 1983
We have argued that if we adopt an account of weak crossover that utilizes the notion antecedent-of, the weak crossover facts in Japanese can be accounted for under some independently motivated assumptions. In particular, under this approach, the absence of the weak crossover effect in (8b) ceases to be a problem for the hypothesis that scrambling is ...

Quantifying weak and strong crossover for wh-crossover and proper names

2023
Despite the status of crossover phenomena as key data in the theoretical study of pronominal syntax/semantics, crossover structures have been subjected to relatively little experimental testing. We investigate 'wh'-crossover, quantificational crossover, and analogous structures involving proper name cataphora in behavioral rating studies, deploying a ...

Spin-Crossover Anticooperativity Induced by Weak Intermolecular Interactions

The Journal of Physical Chemistry Letters, 2014
As a rule, rational design of cooperative spin-crossover (SCO) molecular switches is largely based on consideration of sizes and structures of individual building blocks, whereas a meticulous analysis of crystal packing, including the weakest intermolecular interactions, is often assumed to play a secondary role or is even fully neglected.
