Let \(\mathbb{C}^{n\times n}\) denote the set of all \(n\times n\) complex matrices and \(A^\ast\) the conjugate-transpose of \(A\in \mathbb{C}^{n\times n}\). The Moore-Penrose and the core-EP inverse of the matrix \(A\in \mathbb{C}^{n\times n}\) are denoted by \(A^\dagger\) and \(A^{(\dagger)}\), respectively.

Weak group inverses in proper ∗-rings

In proper ∗-rings, we characterize weak group inverses by three equations. It generalizes the notion of weak group inverse, which was introduced by Wang and Chen for complex matrices in 2018. Some new equivalent characterizations for elements to be weak group invertible are presented. Furthermore, we define the group-EP decomposition.

Weak inverses modulo Green’s relation $$\mathcal{{H}}$$ H on E-inversive and group-closed semigroups

A semigroup \(S\) is \(E\)-inversive if for any \(a \in S\) there exists \(x \in S\) such that the product \(ax\) is idempotent. Here, properties of \(E\)-inversive semigroups are considered which are analogs of properties of inverse elements, if `inverse' is replaced by `weak inverse'. For \(a \in S\), the set of weak inverses is \(\{ x \in S:xax = x\}
