WEAK MEASUREMENTS

Modern Physics Letters B, 1991
A general description of weak measurements is presented. The “weak value” of an operator in pre- and post-selected systems is described both mathematically and using physical arguments. An optical experiment in which a measurement of a weak value has been realized is described.

Weak measurements, weak values, and entanglement

SPIE Proceedings, 2007
As a resource, quantum entanglement provides enormous power to quantum information processing and quantum communication. We focus on new properties of entanglement as revealed by quantum weak measurements. Weak measurements are performed between a pre-selected and post-selected states, one, or both or which are entangled.

Realization of a measurement of a ‘‘weak value’’

Physical Review Letters, 1991
We present the first realization of a measurement of a ``weak value,'' a concept recently introduced by Aharonov, Albert, and Vaidman (AAV). Our experiment uses a birefringent crystal to separate the two linear-polarization components of a laser beam by a distance small compared to the laser-beam waist. This ``weak measurement'' is followed by a strong

Weak partition relations and measurability

Journal of Symbolic Logic, 1986
The concept of "partition relation" has proven to be extremely important in the development of the theory of large cardinals. This is due in good part to the fact that the ordinal numbers which appear as parameters in partition relations provide a natural way to define a detailed hierarchy of the corresponding large cardinal axioms.
