Selections and weak orderability [PDF]

open access: yesFundamenta Mathematicae, 2009
We answer a question of van Mill and Wattel by showing that there is a separable locally compact space which admits a continuous weak selection but is not weakly orderable. Furthermore, we show that a separable space which admits a continuous weak selection can be covered by two weakly orderable spaces.

Joint weak hazard rate order under non-symmetric copulas

open access: yesDependence Modeling, 2016
A weak version of the joint hazard rate order, useful to stochastically compare not independent random variables, has been recently defined and studied in [4]. In the present paper, further results on this order are proved and discussed.

Second-order weak lensing from modified gravity [PDF]

open access: yes, 2011
We explore the sensitivity of weak gravitational lensing to second-order corrections to the spacetime metric within a cosmological adaptation of the parameterized post-Newtonian framework.

Impact of Weak Nanoparticle Induced Disorder on Nematic Ordering

open access: yesCrystals, 2019
Dilute mixtures of nanoparticles (NPs) and nematic liquid crystals (LCs) are considered. We focus on cases where NPs enforce a relatively weak disorder to the LC host.

Sequences of weak solutions to a fourth-order elliptic problem

open access: yesAtti della Accademia Peloritana dei Pericolanti : Classe di Scienze Fisiche, Matematiche e Naturali, 2020
This paper contains some results of existence of infinitely many solutions to an elliptic equation involving the p(x)-biharmonic operator coupled with Navier boundary conditions where the nonlinearities depend on two real parameters and do not possess ...

Second-Order Weak Approximations of CKLS and CEV Processes by Discrete Random Variables

open access: yesMathematics, 2021
In this paper, we construct second-order weak split-step approximations of the CKLS and CEV processes that use generation of a three−valued random variable at each discretization step without switching to another scheme near zero, unlike other known ...

A High Order Accurate and Effective Scheme for Solving Markovian Switching Stochastic Models

open access: yesMathematics, 2021
In this paper, we propose a new weak order 2.0 numerical scheme for solving stochastic differential equations with Markovian switching (SDEwMS). Using the Malliavin stochastic analysis, we theoretically prove that the new scheme has local weak order 3.0 ...

Weak order for the discretization of the stochastic heat equation [PDF]

open access: yes, 2007
In this paper we study the approximation of the distribution of $X_t$ Hilbert--valued stochastic process solution of a linear parabolic stochastic partial differential equation written in an abstract form as $$ dX_t+AX_t dt = Q^{1/2} d W_t, \quad X_0=x ...

On the Weak Order of Orthogonal Groups [PDF]

open access: yesCommunications in Algebra, 2014
A structure of a complete lattice (in the sense of a poset) is defined on the underlying set of the orhtogonal group of a real Euclidean space, by a construction analogous to that of the weak order of a Coxeter system in terms of its root system. This gives rise to a complte rootoid in the sense of Dyer, with the orthogonal group as underlying group.

A New Simplified Weak Second-Order Scheme for Solving Stochastic Differential Equations with Jumps

open access: yesMathematics, 2021
In this paper, we propose a new weak second-order numerical scheme for solving stochastic differential equations with jumps. By using trapezoidal rule and the integration-by-parts formula of Malliavin calculus, we theoretically prove that the numerical ...
