Nonlinear resonance decomposition for weak signal detection

Review of Scientific Instruments, 2021
This paper attempts to investigate the behaviors of coupling stochastic resonance (CSR) subject to α-stable noise and a periodic signal by using the residence-time ratio. Then, a nonlinear resonance decomposition is designed to successfully enhance and detect weak unknown multi-frequency signals embedded in strong α-stable noise by decomposing the ...

Weak Signal Detection in 5G+ Systems

Proceedings of the Twenty-second International Symposium on Theory, Algorithmic Foundations, and Protocol Design for Mobile Networks and Mobile Computing, 2021
Internet connected mobile devices in 5G and beyond (simply 5G+) systems are penetrating all aspects of people's daily life, transforming the way we conduct business and live. However, this rising trend has also posed unprecedented traffic burden on existing telecommunication infrastructure including cellular systems, consistently causing network ...

Exploiting vibrational resonance in weak-signal detection

Physical Review E, 2017
In this paper, we investigate the first exploitation of the vibrational resonance (VR) effect to detect weak signals in the presence of strong background noise. By injecting a series of sinusoidal interference signals of the same amplitude but with different frequencies into a generalized correlation detector, we show that the detection probability can

Detection of Weak Light Signals*

Journal of the Optical Society of America, 1970
The experimental signal-to-noise ratios (S/N) of four photomultiplier light-detection systems are obtained for two values of the dc anode signal and dc anode dark current. The photodetection systems investigated are dc amplifier, lock-in, noise power, and combined lock-in plus noise power.

Ultrafast Detection Of Weak Signals

SPIE Proceedings, 1988
ABSTRACT Femtosecond nonlinear detection techniques for weak signals are discussed. New methods for the characterization of femtosecond sig nals, in amplitude and phase, are presented. 1. INTRODUCTION Several nonlinear detection techniques have been developed with the passively mode- locked dye laser as a source, using the com bination of Rh6G as ...

Weak Signal Detection Based on Signal-Correlation Principle

2009 5th International Conference on Wireless Communications, Networking and Mobile Computing, 2009
The weak signal embedded in various noises is the subject of weak signal detection, while the noises much stronger than the valuable signal, and must take measures to improve the S/N during measuring the signal. So based on the signal-correlation principle, separates the useful signal from the noises by the measured-method of signal-correlation ...

Frequency sensitivity in weak signal detection

Physical Review E, 1999
The phenomenon of frequency sensitivity in weak signal detection has been studied via numerical simulation in the cases of a single neuron and a neuronal network, respectively. The membrane potential undergoes a damping oscillation to the quiescent state with a frequency of 11--33 Hz under a subthreshold bias.

Current progress on weak signal detection

2013 International Conference on Quality, Reliability, Risk, Maintenance, and Safety Engineering (QR2MSE), 2013
In machinery condition monitoring, weak signal is a type of signal that has very low signal-to-noise ratio (SNR). Therefore, it is necessary to develop effective methods so as to enhance or extract useful information from the noisy signal. These methods aim to solve the problem of de-noising and separation of mixed-signal.

Scenario Model for Weak Signal Detection

2011 Seventh International Conference on Signal Image Technology & Internet-Based Systems, 2011
Due to multiplication of information sources as blogs or social networks, watchers have to deal with data in different formats and structures. Consequently, an adapted system, helpful for business intelligence activities, able to retrieve and process data from the Web, is required.

Weak signal detection using coherent control

Physical Review A, 2007
We describe a technique based upon the principles of two-pathway coherent control that allows one to amplify the magnitude of a weak atomic or molecular transition. In our initial demonstrations, we amplify a weak Stark-induced transition (the 6s {sup 2}S{sub 1/2}{yields}8s {sup 2}S{sub 1/2} transition in atomic cesium) by coherently beating it with a ...
