Laser-produced continua for absorption spectroscopy in the VUV and XUV [PDF]

open access: yes, 1980
Recent work has shown that with appropriate targets, laser-produced plasmas provide clean essentially linefree continua suitable for absorption spectroscopy from 40 to 2000 Å.

Bose-Einstein-condensed systems in random potentials

open access: yes, 2007
The properties of systems with Bose-Einstein condensate in external time-independent random potentials are investigated in the frame of a self-consistent stochastic mean-field approximation.

Experimental and numerical investigation of incident angle effects on the dynamic response of RC beams under near-field blast loading

open access: yesDefence Technology
Reinforced concrete (RC) beams face potential near-field blast threats as key structural components in building structures. To investigate the failure modes and dynamic responses of RC beams subjected to near-field blast loading, this paper presents both

Equicontinuous actions of semisimple groups

open access: yes, 2017
We study equicontinuous actions of semisimple groups and some generalizations. We prove that any such action is universally closed, and in particular proper.

Effect of local pumping on random laser modes [PDF]

open access: yes, 2007
We have developed a numerical method based on the transfer matrix to calculate the quasimodes and lasing modes in one-dimensional random systems. Depending on the relative magnitude of the localization length versus the system size, there are two regimes

Recurrent cancer‐associated ERBB4 mutations are transforming and confer resistance to targeted therapies

open access: yesMolecular Oncology, EarlyView.
We show that the majority of the 18 analyzed recurrent cancer‐associated ERBB4 mutations are transforming. The most potent mutations are activating, co‐operate with other ERBB receptors, and are sensitive to pan‐ERBB inhibitors. Activating ERBB4 mutations also promote therapy resistance in EGFR‐mutant lung cancer.

Uniform global attractors for the nonautonomous 3D Navier-Stokes equations [PDF]

open access: yes, 2014
We obtain the existence and the structure of the weak uniform (with respect to the initial time) global attractor and construct a trajectory attractor for the 3D Navier-Stokes equations (NSE) with a fixed time-dependent force satisfying a translation ...

Fine structure of distributions and central limit theorem in diffusive billiards

open access: yes, 2004
We investigate deterministic diffusion in periodic billiard models, in terms of the convergence of rescaled distributions to the limiting normal distribution required by the central limit theorem; this is stronger than the usual requirement that the mean

Universal arrows to forgetful functors from categories of topological algebra [PDF]

open access: yes, 1992
We survey the present trends in theory of universal arrows to forgetful functors from various categories of topological algebra and functional analysis to categories of topology and topological algebra.
