Influence of Test Temperature and Test Frequency on Fatigue Life of Aluminum Alloy EN AW‐2618A

open access: yesAdvanced Engineering Materials, EarlyView.
The influence of test temperature and test frequency on the fatigue life of EN AW‐2618A is investigated. High‐cycle fatigue tests are performed at different test temperatures and frequencies on the 1000 h/230°C overaged state. Both test parameters reduce fatigue life due to time‐dependent damage mechanisms.

Longitudinal Study of Renal Health Screening in Apparently Healthy Aging Dogs

open access: yesJournal of Veterinary Internal Medicine
Background Combined measurement of functional, glomerular, and tubular markers in aging dogs is essential to detect early renal disease. Objectives Prospective longitudinal study to describe renal function and assess which biomarkers are associated with ...

High‐Temperature Nanoindentation of Metals: Assessing Thermal Drift, Frame Compliance, and Chemical Composition Effects on the Reported Mechanical Properties

open access: yesAdvanced Engineering Materials, EarlyView.
Do not let thermal drift and instrument artifacts deceive high‐temperature nanoindentation results. We compare classical Oliver–Pharr and automatic image recognition analyses across steels and a Ni alloy to quantify these effects. Accounting for artifacts reveals systematic softening with temperature, while Cr and Ni additions boost resistance ...

Recycling of NiTi Shape Memory Alloys: Fundamental and Technological Aspects of a Vacuum Induction Melting Processing Route

open access: yesAdvanced Engineering Materials, EarlyView.
The present study investigates recycling of NiTi shape memory alloys via vacuum induction melting. An ingot was synthesized from elemental Ni and Ti and subjected to three subsequent remelting cycles. Remelting increases process durations and impurity levels and adversely affects microstructures and functional properties.

In Situ Micromechanical Study of Bimodal γ′–γ″ Precipitate Assemblies in Ni–Cr–Al–Nb Superalloy

open access: yesAdvanced Engineering Materials, EarlyView.
A Ni–Cr–Al–Nb superalloy with a bimodal γ′–γ″ precipitate distribution is developed. Composite precipitate assemblies form through heterogeneous nucleation, effectively impeding dislocation motion. Micropillar compression reveals high strength at room and elevated temperatures, governed by precipitate shearing, with coupled faulting mechanisms ...

Observational Limits on Einasto Dark Matter Parameters from Event Horizon Telescope Images of Sgr A∗ and M87∗

open access: yesThe Astrophysical Journal
The Event Horizon Telescope (EHT) has provided images of the supermassive black holes Sgr A* and M87*, enabling direct tests of gravity. Any extended mass distribution, such as a dark matter halo, perturbs null geodesics in the photon-ring regime, making

On weakly sign-symmetric matrices [PDF]

open access: yes, 1974
Weakly sign-symmetric matrices have non-negative principal minors and non-negative products of symmetrically placed pairs of almost-principal minors. A necessary condition is proved for such a matrix to have as rank a given positive integer.

Precipitation Simulations of the O‐Phase in Ti2AlNb Alloys Processed by Laser Powder Bed Fusion

open access: yesAdvanced Engineering Materials, EarlyView.
Simulated and experimental evolution of the O‐phase volume fraction during postprocessing of a Ti‐21Al‐25Nb (at.%) alloy processed by laser powder bed fusion. With results of sensitivity to input parameters from a thorough and quantified analysis, the interfacial energy matrix/precipitate is the most relevant input parameter for the simulation of the O‐

On Weakly Projective Symmetric Manifolds

open access: yes, 2009
The object of the present paper is to study weakly projective symmetric manifolds and its decomposability with several non-trivial examples. Among others it is shown that in a decomposable weakly projective symmetric manifold both the decompositions are ...
