Relationships between the geological and selected geomechanical properties of the Purbeck-Weald Facies in Cantabria (North Spain)

Quarterly Journal of Engineering Geology and Hydrogeology, 1987
Abstract The present study introduces some of the relationships that exist between the geomechanical and geological characteristics of the materials within the paleogeographical ambit of the Purbeck-Weald Facies, and takes into account the geological history recorded in the composition and structure of the formations that contain them.

Early kaolinization of detrital Weald facies in the Galve Sub-basin (Central Iberian Chain, north-east Spain) and its relationship to palaeoclimate

Cretaceous Research, 2014
Abstract A set of samples from the Camarillas Formation (Barremian, Weald facies) in the Galve Sub-basin (Central Iberian Chain, north-east Spain) was studied to determine the origin of the abundant kaolinitic clays and their relationship to the sedimentary environment, palaeoclimate and diagenetic processes.

Sedimentology and vertebrate taphonomy of bone-bearing facies from the Clockhouse Rock Store (Weald Clay, late Hauterivian), Capel, Surrey, UK

Proceedings of the Geologists Association, 1997
The Clockhouse Rock Store [TQ 174 384] has for the past twenty years been a major source of Wealden insect fossils, but the presence of vertebrate remains has only been briefly documented. Nine distinct vertebrate-bearing facies are described here. Sedimentary structures in the sandstones indicate fluvial deposition.

Depositional architecture and facies variability in anhydrite and polyhalite sequences: a multi-scale study of the Jurassic (Weald Basin, Brightling Mine) and Permian (Zechstein Basin, Boulby Mine) of the UK

2016
Quantifying the geometries of evaporite deposits at a <1 km scale is critical in our understanding of similar ancient depositional systems, but is challenging given evaporite mineral dissolution at surface conditions. Two high-resolution stratigraphic studies in mines provide insight into the geometries, dimensions, and spatial distributions of ...

Characteristics and context of high-energy, tidally modulated, barred shoreface deposits: Kimmeridgian–Tithonian sandstones, Weald Basin, southern U.K. and northern France

, 2020
The influence of tides on the sedimentology of wave-dominated shorefaces has been emphasized in recent studies of modern shorelines and related facies models, but few ancient examples have been reported to date.

Multi‐proxy approach to palaeoenvironmental modelling: the English Lower Cretaceous Weald Basin

, 2018
Palaeoenvironmental reconstructions of the Wealden (Lower Cretaceous) in southeast England have been previously based mainly on field and fossil data.
