Wearable Visual Robots

open access: yesPersonal and Ubiquitous Computing, 2002
This paper presents a wearable active visual sensor which is able to achieve a level of decoupling of camera movement from the wearer's posture and motions. This decoupling is achieved by a combination of active sensing, inertial information and visual sensor feedback.

Thermodynamic Pathways of Nonequilibrium Solidification in Wire‐Arc Additive Manufacturing Fe‐Based Multicomponent Alloy Structures

open access: yesAdvanced Engineering Materials, EarlyView.
Geometry‐driven thermal behavior in wire‐arc additive manufacturing (WAAM) influences microstructural evolution during nonequilibrium solidification of a chemically complex Fe–Cr–Nb–W–Mo–C nanocomposite system. By comparing different deposits configurations, distinct entropy–cooling rate correlations, segregation, and carbide evolution are revealed ...

A novel computational signal processing framework towards multimodal vital signs extraction using neck-worn wearable devices

open access: yesScientific Reports
Pulse rate (PR) and respiratory rate (RR) are two of the most important vital signs. Monitoring them would benefit from easy-to-use technologies. Hence, wearable devices would, in principle, be ideal candidates for such systems. The neck, although highly

Composition‐Tuned Enhancement of the Anomalous Nernst Effect in FeCo–Pt Thin Films on Rigid and Flexible Substrates

open access: yesAdvanced Engineering Materials, EarlyView.
Disordered (Fe50Co50)1−xPtx thin films exhibit a pronounced anomalous Nernst effect (ANE) with a strong composition dependence on both rigid and flexible substrates. The transverse thermoelectric response peaks near 22.5 at.% Pt, accompanied by enhanced αxy/σxy scaling, thermal transport, and ANE sensitivity.
