Daytime Radiative Cooling under Extreme Weather Conditions

open access: yesAdvanced Energy & Sustainability Research
Radiative cooling, taking advantage of the coldness of the sky, has a potential to be a sustainable alternative to meet cooling needs. The performance of a radiative cooling device is fundamentally limited by the emissivity of the sky, therefore depends ...

Genotype and environment interaction on yield and quality parameters of organically grown winter wheat – Triticum aestivum L. genotypes [PDF]

open access: yes, 2005
The interaction of genotype and environment upon yield and quality parameters of eight winter wheat (Triticum aestivum L.) genotypes was studied under organic conditions in Austria over two growing periods, 2001/2002 and 2002/2003, respectively.

Multi‐Functional ZnO–Te Heterojunction Devices Enabling Compact Frequency Quadrupler

open access: yesAdvanced Functional Materials, EarlyView.
Wafer‐scale ZnO–Te heterojunction devices featuring tunable double negative differential transconductance (D‐NDT) are demonstrated at ≤ 200°C. Leveraging this unique characteristic, a single‐stage frequency quadrupler is realized, achieving a 64%–75% reduction in device count.

Application of Markov chain theory to ASTP natural environment launch criteria at Kennedy Space Center [PDF]

open access: yes
To aid the planning of the Apollo Soyuz Test Program (ASTP), certain natural environment statistical relationships are presented, based on Markov theory and empirical counts.

The impact of year-to-year changes in the weather on the seasonal dynamics of lakes [PDF]

open access: yes, 2004
The methods currently used to monitor and model lakes were developed when weather conditions were very different to what they are today. Most are based on samples collected at weekly or fortnightly intervals and cannot quantify the effects of short-term,

Selenium‐Incorporated Polymerized Nonfullerene Acceptors/SWCNT Composites with Polymer‐Assisted n‐Doping for High‐Performance Organic Thermoelectrics

open access: yesAdvanced Functional Materials, EarlyView.
Selenium‐incorporated polymerized nonfullerene acceptor PCB2Se forms a strong supramolecular complex with SWCNTs, enabling a record‐high zT of 0.29. Sequential N‐DMBI doping, mediated through a polymer‐assisted electron‐transfer pathway, successfully converts the PCB2Se/SWCNT composite into an efficient n‐type material with an impressive power factor ...

Freak Waves and Weather Conditions

open access: yesJournal of Japan Society of Civil Engineers, Ser. B2 (Coastal Engineering), 2010
The kurtosis of the surface elevation, Benjamin-Feir Index (BFI) and directional spread are measures of nonlinear four-wave interactions and freak waves. The dependence of kurtosis, BFI and directional spread under typhoon conditions are examined by numerical simulations and field data. The Value BFI is significantly large in the fourth quadrant of the
