Magnetite Survivability and Non‐Stoichiometric Magnetite Formation in Presence of Oxyhalogen Brines on Mars

open access: yesGeophysical Research Letters
The mixed Fe(II)/Fe(III) mineral magnetite [Fe3O4] of various stoichiometric and non‐stoichiometric compositions have been reported in Martian soils and rocks by several rover missions.

South Asian monsoon history over the past 60 kyr recorded by radiogenic isotopes and clay mineral assemblages in the Andaman Sea [PDF]

open access: yes, 2015
The Late Quaternary variability of the South Asian (or Indian) monsoon has been linked with glacial‐interglacial and millennial scale climatic changes but past rainfall intensity in the river catchments draining into the Andaman Sea remains poorly ...

Dual‐Responsive Yarn‐Based Artificial Muscles for Adaptive Thermal Management

open access: yesAdvanced Science, EarlyView.
Inspired by the conscious movements of skeletal muscle, a novel hybrid yarn‐based artificial muscle (HYAM) coupling moisture actuation with controllable recovery is developed. This unique design increases actuation stroke by 128% and shortens recovery time by 91%. This unique design enhances the actuation stroke by 128% and reduces the recovery time by

Cryptoendolith colonization of diverse substrates (1): cultivation and characterization [PDF]

open access: yes, 2005
We are investigating whether cryptoendolithic microorganisms are able to colonize diverse substrates through biogenic weathering. This first part of the study involves the cultivation and characterization of microbial consortia from Antarctic sandstone ...

Ion‐Confinement‐Assisted Erasure Purifies Oxidized MXene for Reuse

open access: yesAdvanced Science, EarlyView.
An erasure‐purification strategy removes surface‐derived TiO2 from oxidized Ti3C2Tx MXene by ion‐confinement‐induced interfacial conversion to soluble titanates, followed by brief acid washing. The scalable process enables approximately 70% material recovery, restores electrical conductivity, and recovers functional performance, including high ...

Weathering of stony meteorites in Antarctica [PDF]

open access: yes
Weathering produces undesirable physical, chemical, and isotopic changes that might disturb the records of cosmochemical evolution that are sought in meteorites. Meteorites are physically disintegrated by crack propagation phenomena, including ice riving

Highly Sensitive Heterojunction‐Gated Phototransistor With Detection Wavelength Ranged From 350 to 1700 Nm

open access: yesAdvanced Science, EarlyView.
This work demonstrates a heterojunction‐gated infrared phototransistor for broadband detection from 350 to 1700 nm. By suppressing defect states on nonpolar (100) facets of large PbS quantum dots via hybrid ligand passivation, the device achieves a room‐temperature detectivity of 5.7 × 1013 Jones at 1650 nm.
