Along the meridian from Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania, to Morgantown, West Virginia, and at a distance of 60 miles, the night intensity of KDKA sometimes rises above the day signal and sometimes falls below it. Observations during 1927 and 1928 have shown that this phenomenon foreshadows weather conditions from twelve to twenty-four hours ahead.
