Modeling web data

Proceedings of the 2nd ACM/IEEE-CS joint conference on Digital libraries, 2002
We have created three testbeds of web data for use in controlled experiments in collection modeling. This short paper examines the applicability of Ziff's and Heaps' laws as applied to web data. We find extremely close agreement between observed vocabulary growth and Heaps' law.

Web Modeling Language (WebML): a modeling language for designing Web sites

Computer Networks, 2000
Abstract Designing and maintaining Web applications is one of the major challenges for the software industry of the year 2000. In this paper we present Web Modeling Language (WebML), a notation for specifying complex Web sites at the conceptual level.

Web-Services Coordination Model

2003
Web-services are self-contained, self-describing modular applications and can be seen as a newly emerging distributed computing model for the Web. There are two types of web-services: atomic and composite. A composite Web-Service can be described as a directed process graph that composes other atomic or composite Web-Services. A graph defines the order

A model for Web adoption

Information & Management, 2004
This paper introduces a model for Web adoption and examines the characteristics of different level Web sites in terms of their features. The results indicate that the extent of the features tends to increase when the Web adoption progresses from lower to higher level.

Web Page Recommendation Model for Web Personalization

2004
Web usage mining has gained more popularity among researchers in discovering the users browsing behavior mining the web server log that records all the users’ transactions activities. In this paper, we developed a usage model for predictions based on association rule. Similarity between items contained in the active user profile will be calculated upon

Model-Checking Web Applications with Web-TLR

2010
WEB-TLR is a software tool designed for model-checking Web applications which is based on rewriting logic. Web applications are expressed as rewrite theories which can be formally verified by using the Maude built-in LTLR model-checker. Web-TLR is equipped with a userfriendly, graphical Web interface that shields the user from unnecessary information ...

Web-centric language models [PDF]

open access: possibleProceedings of the 14th ACM international conference on Information and knowledge management, 2005
We investigate language models for informational and navigational web search. Retrieval on the web is a task that differs substantially from ordinary ad hoc retrieval. We perform an analysis of prior probability of relevance for a wide range of non-content features, shedding further light on the importance of non-content features for web retrieval ...

Stability of a model food web

Physical Review E, 2009
We investigate numerically the stability of a model food web, introduced by Nunes Amaral and Meyer [Phys. Rev. Lett. 82, 652 (1999)]. The model describes a system of species located in niches at several levels. Upper level species are predating on those from a lower level. We show that the model web is more stable when it is larger, although the number

Web Communities: Models and Algorithms

World Wide Web, 2004
In the last few years, a lot of research has been devoted to developing new techniques for improving the recall and the precision of current web search engines. Few works deal with the interesting problem of identifying the communities to which pages belong. Most of the previous approaches try to cluster data by means of spectral techniques or by means
