Factors Driving Battery and Solar Purchase Decision of Residents: a Behavioural Choice Experiment Using a Hybrid Discrete Choice and Latent Variable Model

open access: yesAdvanced Sustainable Systems, EarlyView.
This article explores what drives households to adopt solar PV and battery systems in South East Queensland. Using hybrid discrete choice experiments, it reveals distinct adopter profiles and highlights cost, system size, and energy independence as key motivators.

Moving towards Adaptive Search [PDF]

open access: yes, 2009
Information retrieval has become very popular over the last decade with the advent of the Web. Nevertheless, searching on the Web is very different to searching on smaller, often more structured collections such as intranets and digital libraries.

Dynamic Neural Deactivation Bridges Direct and Competitive Inhibition Processes

open access: yesAdvanced Science, EarlyView.
Dynamic neural deactivation bridges traditionally distinct inhibitory mechanisms—direct inhibition and competition‐induced inhibition—revealing a common neural signature across modalities. Multimodal neuroimaging and behavioral experiments demonstrate a temporal dynamic characterized by progressive frontoparietal activation decay and enhanced sensory ...

Allele‐Specific Regulation of PAXIP1‐AS1 by SMC3/CEBPB at rs112651172 in Psychiatric Disorders Drives Synaptic and Behavioral Dysfunctions in Mice

open access: yesAdvanced Science, EarlyView.
This study identifies a functional noncoding variant, rs112651172 (C/G), that drives allele‐specific expression of PAXIP1‐AS1 in monozygotic twin pairs discordant for schizophrenia and bipolar disorder. The risk G allele enhances CEBPB binding, leading to lncRNA upregulation, CNTNAP3 derepression, and synaptic and behavioral deficits in mice.

Expectation maximization clustering algorithm for user modeling in web usage mining system [PDF]

open access: yes, 2009
To provide intelligent personalized online services such as web recommender systems, it is usually necessary to model users’ web access behavior. To achieve this, one of the promising approaches is web usage mining, which mines web logs for user models ...

Optimal Chirality Enhances Long‐Range Fluctuation‐Induced Interactions in Active Fluids

open access: yesAdvanced Science, EarlyView.
Chiral active particles move along curved trajectories arising from the interplay of propulsion and self‐rotation. How chirality influences fluctuation‐induced forces in active matter systems remains unclear. It is shown that particle shape dictates this effect: chirality suppresses forces for circular particles but can enhance them for elongated ones,

Mining learning preferences in web-based instruction: Holists vs. Serialists [PDF]

open access: yes, 2011
Web-based instruction programs are used by learners with diverse knowledge, skills and needs. These differences determine their preferences for the design of Web-based instruction programs and ultimately influence learners' success in using them ...
