Web OPEN-Integrated: Proposed Framework for Web Development [PDF]

open access: yes, 2005
Most Web applications are designed in an ad-hoc manner. Web applications, due to their peculiar nature, cannot be just developed as conventional software projects. Haire et al advocate Web OPEN [1] [2], extension to OPEN (Object-oriented Process, Environment, and Notation), as suitable model and provide a good study on it.

The newfound relationship between extrachromosomal DNAs and excised signal circles

open access: yesFEBS Letters, EarlyView.
Extrachromosomal DNAs (ecDNAs) contribute to the progression of many human cancers. In addition, circular DNA by‐products of V(D)J recombination, excised signal circles (ESCs), have roles in cancer progression but have largely been overlooked. In this Review, we explore the roles of ecDNAs and ESCs in cancer development, and highlight why these ...

Plecstatin inhibits hepatocellular carcinoma tumorigenesis and invasion through cytolinker plectin

open access: yesMolecular Oncology, EarlyView.
The ruthenium‐based metallodrug plecstatin exerts its anticancer effect in hepatocellular carcinoma (HCC) primarily through selective targeting of plectin. By disrupting plectin‐mediated cytoskeletal organization, plecstatin inhibits anchorage‐dependent growth, cell polarization, and tumor cell dissemination.

Promiscuous stimulation of HSP70 ATPase activity by parasite‐derived J‐domains

open access: yesFEBS Open Bio, EarlyView.
The malaria parasite Plasmodium falciparum exports three highly homologous yet functionally divergent J‐domain proteins into human erythrocytes. Here, we show that J‐domains isolated from all three proteins effectively stimulate the ATPase activity of both endogenous host and exported parasite HSP70 chaperones.

Quantitative proteomic analysis reveals different characteristics of bladder cancer cells after exposure to bisphenol A

open access: yesFEBS Open Bio, EarlyView.
Bisphenol A (BPA), a common chemical in plastics, exerts dual effects on bladder cancer cells: low doses promote growth and migration, while high doses suppress growth and migration. Multi‐omics and bioinformatics reveal BPA acts via MAPK and inflammatory pathways.

Numerical Investigation on Strengthening of Steel Beams for Corrosion Damage or Web Openings Using Carbon Fiber Reinforced Polymer Sheets

open access: yesBuildings
Fiber-reinforced polymers (FRPs) have been widely used to strengthen steel structures, which could suffer from corrosion or the introduction of web openings, for utilities such as ductwork, plumbing, electrical conduits, and HVAC systems.

Finite Element Investigation on Web-Post Buckling of Perforated Steel Beams with Various Web Opening Shapes subjected under different shear-moment interaction [PDF]

open access: yes, 2011
The current method of assessment is based on FE models which still lack computational efficiency and are restricted by a number of limitations. Therefore, this work aims at the feasibility of developing FE models which are applicable to deformation and ...
