Energy-Efficient Query Processing in Web Search Engines
Web search engines are composed by thousands of query processing nodes, i.e., servers dedicated to process user queries. Such many servers consume a significant amount of energy, mostly accountable to their CPUs, but they are necessary to ensure low latencies, since users expect sub-second response times (e.g., 500 ms). However, users can hardly notice

Non‐Hermitian Topological Lattice Photonics: An Analytic Perspective
This review establishes exact analytical solutions for non‐Hermitian Hatano–Nelson, Su–Schrieffer–Heeger, and generalized Rice–Mele models. We demonstrate non‐Hermitian skin effects via point‐gap topology, hybrid skin‐topological edge states in 2D lattices, and spin‐polarized boundary modes governed by dual bulk‐boundary correspondence.

Assessing the impact of user interaction with thesaural knowledge structures: a quantitative analysis framework [PDF]
Thesauri have been important information and knowledge organisation tools for more than three decades. The recent emergence and phenomenal growth of the World Wide Web has created new opportunities to introduce thesauri as information search and ...

Toward Entity-Aware Search [PDF]
As the Web has evolved into a data-rich repository, with the standard "page view," current search engines are becoming increasingly inadequate for a wide range of query tasks.

Advances and Outlook of Nickel‐Based MOFs–LDHs Materials for Energy Conversion
In this graphical abstract, we present the pivotal gap between the activity and stability parameters as far as intergrated Ni‐based MOF/LDF electrocatalysts are concerned. For large scale application, these two parameters should be optimized and furthermore balanced in order to promote sustainable electrocatalytic hydrogen production.

The effect of query complexity on Web searching results
This paper presents findings from a study of the effects of query structure on retrieval by Web search services. Fifteen queries were selected from the transaction log of a major Web search service in simple query form with no advanced operators (e.g ...

Prediction of Microstructural Representativity From A Single Image
Accurately estimating the reliability of phase fraction measurements from limited microstructural data remains a key challenge and is rarely reported for this reason. ImageRep addresses the problem by adapting the Two‐Point Correlation function to assess representativity from a single image.
