Resistant bending moment to lateral-torsional buckling of continuous steel and concrete composite beams with transverse stiffeners

open access: yesRevista IBRACON de Estruturas e Materiais, 2021
In this paper, a numerical analysis using the finite element method, employing the commercial code Ansys, is performed to evaluate the influence of transverse stiffeners welded to the web of the steel profile on the lateral stiffness and resistant ...

Effect of Horizontal Stiffeners on the Efficiency of Steel Beams in Resisting Bending and Torsional Moments: Finite Element Analysis

open access: yesBuildings
Steel beams with eccentric loads are subjected to combined bending and torsional moments that lead to lateral displacements, unwanted stresses at the top and bottom flanges, and global buckling along their length.

Effect of Web Stiffeners on The Flexural Behavior of Composite GFRP- Concrete ‎Beam Under Impact Load

open access: yesJournal of Engineering, 2021
In this paper, numerical and experimental studies on the elastic behavior of glass fiber reinforced ‎polymer (GFRP) with stiffeners in the GFRP section's web (to prevent local buckling) are presented.

Sulfation‐Tunable Peptide‐Glycosaminoglycan Hydrogels for Hematopoietic Stem and Progenitor Cell Expansion

open access: yesAdvanced Functional Materials, EarlyView.
Co‐assembly of rationally designed glycosaminoglycan‐binding peptides with sulfated glycosaminoglycans yields supramolecular hydrogels with tunable mechanics and matrix‐mediated cytokine retention. The glycosaminoglycans thereby act as cofactors, driving a coil‐to‐β‐sheet transition that triggers gelation.

Analysis of steel I-beams with rectangular web openings: experimental and finite element investigation

open access: yesEngineering Structures and Technologies, 2015
Steel I-shaped beams with web openings of shapes like hexagonal, circular and rectangular at regular intervals have been used since last 60–70 years. Therefore aim of this paper is to examine the behaviour of steel I-beams with rectangular web openings ...

On the Modeling of Ship Stiffened Panels Subjected to Uniform Pressure Loads

open access: yesApplied Mechanics, 2022
Stiffened panels constitute structural assemblies of the entire ship hull, i.e., double bottom, side shell, deck areas, etc. Prescriptive dimensioning of the stiffeners (web thickness and height and flange thickness and breadth) is solely based on the ...

Hierarchical Collagen Nanofiber Gels Recapitulate a Physiologically Relevant Tumor Stromal Microenvironment

open access: yesAdvanced Healthcare Materials, EarlyView.
The collagen nanofiber (CNF) gel supports cancer cell culture, exhibiting cell morphology and cancer‐related protein expression similar to Matrigel. It offers a higher collagen concentration than commercial gels. Additionally, the CNF gel allows replication of the high elasticity of in vivo cancer tissue by controlling collagen fiber sizes, ranging ...

Bottlebrush Polyolefin Sulfones as Triggerable and Degradable Pressure‐Sensitive Adhesives

open access: yesAngewandte Chemie, EarlyView.
A grafting‐through alternating copolymerization strategy yields poly(norbornene sulfone) bottlebrush polymers with high molar mass. These materials function as additive‐free pressure‐sensitive adhesives. The incorporation of cleavable sulfone units enables rapid breakdown under mild alkaline conditions, providing a pathway toward sustainable, high ...
