WebCom is a metacomputer based on the Condensed Graphs model of computing. Within this model, applications are represented as directed acyclic graphs with the nodes representing tasks and arcs their sequencing constraints. This paper presents the job management system used in WebCom.

This chapter presents a model (WebCom) for understanding and analyzing Web site-mediated communication, also referred to as Web site communication. The model combines three theoretical approaches— communication, medium, and activity theory—into one generic model that benefits from each of the approaches’ strengths.

Fault tolerance in the WebCom metacomputer
Proceedings International Conference on Parallel Processing Workshops, 2002This paper addresses fault tolerance in the WebCom metacomputer. WebCom's computation platform is dynamically reconfigurable and volunteer-based. Since its constituent machines may join and leave unpredictability, fault survival and efficient fault recovery is of paramount importance.
