Proton Spin Based On Chiral Dynamics [PDF]
Chiral spin fraction models agree with the proton spin data only when the chiral quark-Goldstone boson couplings are pure spinflip. For axial-vector coupling from soft-pion physics this is true for massless quarks but not for constituent quarks.

Evidence of patchy hydrogen reionization from an extreme Lyα trough below redshift six [PDF]
We report the discovery of an extremely long (∼110 Mpc/h) and dark (τeff≳7) Lyα trough extending down to z≃5.5 towards the zem≃6.0 quasar ULAS J0148+0600. We use these new data in combination with Lyα forest measurements from 42 quasars at 4.5≤zem≤6.4 to

The processing of time intervals is fundamental for sensorimotor and cognitive functions. Perceptual and motor timing are often performed concurrently (e.g., playing a musical instrument).

Signature of deconfinement with spin down compression in cooling hybrid stars [PDF]
The thermal evolution of neutron stars is coupled to their spin down and the resulting changes in structure and chemical composition. This coupling correlates stellar surface temperatures with rotational state as well as time.

On the One-Dimensional Modeling of Vertical Upward Bubbly Flow
The one-dimensional two-fluid model approach has been traditionally used in thermal-hydraulics codes for the analysis of transients and accidents in water–cooled nuclear power plants.

Depression does not affect time perception and time-to-contact estimation
Depressed patients frequently report a subjective slowing of the passage of time. However, experimental demonstrations of altered time perception in depressed patients are not conclusive. We added a timed action task (time-to-contact estimation, TTC) and

Equivalence of background and bleaching desensitization in isolated rod photoreceptors of the larval tiger salamander. [PDF]
Psychophysical experiments have shown an equivalence between sensitivity reduction by background light and by bleaches for the human scotopic system.

Implications of Hyperon Pairing for Cooling of Neutron Stars [PDF]
The implications of hyperon pairing for the thermal evolution of neutron stars containing hyperons are investigated. The outcome of cooling simulations are compared for neutron star models composed only of nucleons and leptons, models including hyperons,

Reciprocal control of viral infection and phosphoinositide dynamics
Phosphoinositides, although scarce, regulate key cellular processes, including membrane dynamics and signaling. Viruses exploit these lipids to support their entry, replication, assembly, and egress. The central role of phosphoinositides in infection highlights phosphoinositide metabolism as a promising antiviral target.
