A Transcriptome‐Wide Mendelian Randomization Study in Isolated Human Immune Cells Highlights Risk Genes Involved in Viral Infections and Potential Drug Repurposing Opportunities for Schizophrenia

open access: yesAmerican Journal of Medical Genetics Part B: Neuropsychiatric Genetics, EarlyView.
ABSTRACT Schizophrenia is a neurodevelopmental psychiatric disorder characterized by symptoms of psychosis, thought disorder, and flattened affect. Immune mechanisms are associated with schizophrenia, though the precise nature of this relationship (causal, correlated, consequential) and the mechanisms involved are not fully understood.

A Novel Merocyanine Derivative for Probing Polarity at Cubosome Interfaces

open access: yesAsian Journal of Organic Chemistry, Accepted Article.
This study reports the development of a synthetic route for the chemical environment sensor C10SP, designed for incorporation into phytantriol‐based cubosomes. The molecule combines an apolar aliphatic tail for lipid bilayer anchoring with a polarity‐sensitive chromophore.

Enaminone‐Based Push–Pull Chromophores: Synthesis, Optical Properties, and Computational Insights

open access: yesAsian Journal of Organic Chemistry, Accepted Article.
Chromophores incorporating enaminone units were efficiently synthesized using click‐type [2+2] cycloaddition‐retroelectrocyclization (CA‐RE) reactions. The preparation of electron‐rich alkynes necessary for these reactions initiated with the synthesis of alkynones via Sonogashira cross‐coupling, followed by nucleophilic conjugate addition to yield the ...

Thiophene Containing Polycyclic Aromatic Hydrocarbon Monkey Saddles

open access: yesAsian Journal of Organic Chemistry, Accepted Article.
Negatively curved chiral polycyclic aromatic hydrocarbons (PAHs) gained a lot of interest in research over the past years. By replacing phenyl against thiophene units in a monkey saddle shaped PAH, it was possible to further tune the photophysical and electrochemical properties as well as influence the racemization barrier of these three‐dimensional ...

Raising post‐secondary education participation of young people transitioning from care: The effects of extended legislative support

open access: yesAustralian Journal of Social Issues, EarlyView.
Abstract Out‐of‐home care is associated with a range of negative social outcomes for the young people who experience it. The most promising path to improved life chances for care‐experienced young people is arguably through education, especially post‐secondary education.
