The Effect of Leading Edge Geometry on the Performance of Wedge Type Pitot-Static Yawmeters

open access: yesMeasurement + Control, 1974
Results are presented showing how the performance of wedge-probes at low Mach number may be affected by the geometry of the front pressure tapping recess in the leading edge and also by the shape of the leading edge.

Long Polymers Near Wedges and Cones [PDF]

open access: yesPhys. Rev. E 92, 062602 (2015), 2015
We perform a Monte Carlo study of $N$-step self-avoiding walks, attached to the corner of an impenetrable wedge in two dimensions ($d=2$), or the tip of an impenetrable cone in $d=3$, of sizes ranging up to $N=10^6$ steps. We find that the critical exponent $\gamma_{\alpha}$ which determines the dependence of the number of available conformations on $N$

Chemoresistome mapping in individual breast cancer patients unravels diversity in dynamic transcriptional adaptation

open access: yesMolecular Oncology, EarlyView.
This study used longitudinal transcriptomics and gene‐pattern classification to uncover patient‐specific mechanisms of chemotherapy resistance in breast cancer. Findings reveal preexisting drug‐tolerant states in primary tumors and diverse gene rewiring patterns across patients, converging on a few dysregulated functional modules. Despite receiving the

Bioengineering facets of the tumor microenvironment in 3D tumor models: insights into cellular, biophysical and biochemical interactions

open access: yesFEBS Open Bio, EarlyView.
The tumor microenvironment is a dynamic, multifaceted complex system of interdependent cellular, biochemical, and biophysical components. Three‐dimensional in vitro models of the tumor microenvironment enable a better understanding of these interactions and their impact on cancer progression and therapeutic resistance.

From thrust tectonics to diapirism. The role of evaporites in the kinematic evolution of the eastern South Pyrenean front

open access: yesGeologica Acta, 2003
The South Pyrenean foreland has a buried thrust front geometry where evaporitic levels are present at the subsurface and are suitable to be detachment horizons.

Coseismic Deformation Responses due to Geometrical Structure and Heterogeneity of the Accretionary Wedge: Study Case 2010 Mentawai Earthquake, West Sumatra, Indonesia

open access: yesInternational Journal of Geophysics, 2023
The assumption of a homogeneous elastic half-space model is widely used to model the earth’s deformation. However, the homogeneous assumption would not accurately reflect the complexity of the shallow crust.

Heintze-Karcher inequality and capillary hypersurfaces in a wedge [PDF]

open access: yesarXiv, 2022
In this paper, we utilize the method of Heintze-Karcher to prove a "best" version of Heintze-Karcher-type inequality for capillary hypersurfaces in the half-space or in a wedge. One of new crucial ingredients in the proof is modified parallel hypersurfaces which are very natural to be used to study capillary hypersurfaces.

Towards a bit threads derivation of holographic entanglement of purification

open access: yesJournal of High Energy Physics, 2019
We apply the bit thread formulation of holographic entanglement entropy to reduced states describing only the geometry contained within an entanglement wedge.

Wedge wetting by electrolyte solutions [PDF]

open access: yesPhys. Rev. E 96, 032605 (2017), 2017
The wetting of a charged wedge-like wall by an electrolyte solution is investigated by means of classical density functional theory. As in other studies on wedge wetting, this geometry is considered as the most simple deviation from a planar substrate, and it serves as a first step towards more complex confinements of fluids.

Spacetime fluctuations in AdS/CFT

open access: yesJournal of High Energy Physics, 2020
We compute fluctuations in the modular energy of the vacuum associated with a Rindler-wedge in AdS spacetime in the context of AdS/CFT. We discuss the possible effect of these energy fluctuations on the spacetime geometry, and on the traversal time of a ...
