A modified Weibull distribution [PDF]
A new lifetime distribution capable of modeling a bathtub-shaped hazard-rate function is proposed. The proposed model is derived as a limiting case of the Beta Integrated Model and has both the Weibull distribution and Type I extreme value distribution as special cases.

Modifications of the Weibull distribution: A review
Reliability Engineering and System Safety, 2014Abstract It is well known that the Weibull distribution is the most popular and the most widely used distribution in reliability and in analysis of lifetime data. Unfortunately, its hazard function cannot exhibit non-monotonic shapes like the bathtub shape or the unimodal shape.

A derivation for the Weibull distribution
Journal of Theoretical Biology, 1979Abstract The Weibull distribution is increasingly finding application in the biological sciences, notably in forestry, where it has given good fits to tree-diameter frequency distribution. Interest among foresters is currently focused on improving the interpretation for the two parameters of this distribution, resulting in better understanding of ...

AbstractThe basic Weibull distribution is considered the most fundamental and basic lifetime distribution. Various extensions of the Weibull distribution have been proposed since the 1970s and are useful in the modeling of complex lifetime data that are beyond the capability of the basic Weibull. This article reviews the properties of the basic Weibull

The beta modified Weibull distribution
Lifetime Data Analysis, 2010A five-parameter distribution so-called the beta modified Weibull distribution is defined and studied. The new distribution contains, as special submodels, several important distributions discussed in the literature, such as the generalized modified Weibull, beta Weibull, exponentiated Weibull, beta exponential, modified Weibull and Weibull ...

A new modified Weibull distribution
Reliability Engineering and System Safety, 2013We introduce a new lifetime distribution by considering a serial system with one component following a Weibull distribution and another following a modified Weibull distribution. We study its mathematical properties including moments and order statistics. The estimation of parameters by maximum likelihood is discussed.

Discrete Linnik Weibull distribution
Communications in Statistics - Simulation and Computation, 2018We introduce a new family of distributions using truncated discrete Linnik distribution. This family is a rich family of distributions which includes many important families of distributions such a...
