Platform competition and strategic trade‐offs for complementors: Heterogeneous reactions to the entry of a new platform

open access: yesStrategic Management Journal, EarlyView.
Abstract Research Summary We study how the entry of a rival platform affects the strategies of the incumbent's complementors. The latter face a trade‐off: While the entry threatens their benefits from indirect network effects, it also allows them to escape intense within‐platform competition.

Life and reliability models for helicopter transmissions [PDF]

open access: yes
Computer models of life and reliability are presented for planetary gear trains with a fixed ring gear, input applied to the sun gear, and output taken from the planet arm.

Strategic positioning and accelerating regulatory clearance for new ventures

open access: yesStrategic Management Journal, EarlyView.
Abstract Research Summary How do new ventures strategically position their products to accelerate regulatory clearance? We investigate this question in the medical device industry, where regulatory clearance is a prerequisite for market entry. We examine 239 new firms' 510(k) device clearances by the FDA between 2001 and 2019.

ON STEREOGRAPHIC CIRCULAR WEIBULL DISTRIBUTION

open access: yesJournal of New Theory, 2016
– In this paper, we introduce Stereographic-l-axial Weibull and Stereographic Circular Weibull distributions for modeling l-axial and circular data by extending the Stereographic Semicircular Weibull distribution [8].

Multi‐level fatigue reliability assessment of reinforced concrete railway bridges

open access: yesStructural Concrete, EarlyView.
Abstract This paper presents a multi‐level reliability framework for assessing the fatigue life of reinforced concrete (RC) railway trough bridges subjected to cyclic loading. The framework incorporates increasing levels of analytical complexity and real‐world data in four steps. First, an analytical model applies S–N curves and the Palmgren–Miner rule

Effect of Unit Cell Topology on Dielectric Properties of Periodic Lattice Materials Used for Functionally Graded Insulation

open access: yesHigh Voltage, EarlyView.
ABSTRACT Periodic lattice material (PLM) is an innovative material system capable of rapidly and efficiently constructing functionally graded materials (FGMs). Among various PLM structures, triply periodic minimal surfaces (TPMS) exhibit numerous advantages, making TPMS‐based lattice materials a potential candidate to electrical FGMs.

Failure Probability Evaluation of GIL Tri‐Post Insulators Under Electromechanical Stresses

open access: yesHigh Voltage, EarlyView.
ABSTRACT Based on the energy theory, this paper proposes an evaluation method for the breakdown failure probability of the tri‐post insulator in a gas‐insulated metal‐enclosed transmission line (GIL). Various internal defects, vector forces and torque forces were considered, along with the application of an AC voltage.

Lumpy Labor Adjustment as a Propagation Mechanism of Business Cycles [PDF]

open access: yes
I explore the aggregate effects of micro lumpy labor adjustment in a prototypical RBC model, which embeds a stochastic labor duration mechanism in the spirit of Calvo(1983), and it extends this approach by introducing a Weibull-distributed labor ...

Unravelling the Correlation Between Moisture and TDDB in Galvanic Isolators Based on Polymeric Dielectrics

open access: yesHigh Voltage, EarlyView.
ABSTRACT In this paper, the impact of moisture on the time‐dependent dielectric breakdown (TDDB) in polymeric dielectrics for galvanic isolators is investigated experimentally. Through ad hoc test schemes, device lifetime under electrical stress is quantitatively correlated to the moisture concentration in the samples by monitoring the latter via the ...
