Weibull Modulus of Toughened Ceramics

MRS Proceedings, 1986
ABSTRACTThe influence of toughness on the Weibull modulus of ceramics is discussed. It is shown that an increase in toughness does not give a higher Weibull modulus if the ceramic is truly brittle, following the Griffith criterion of fracture. However, R curve behaviour, such as that shown by tetragonal zirconia, by Dugdale material, or by fibrous ...

High Weibull Modulus HVOF Titania Coatings

Journal of Thermal Spray Technology, 2003
The mechanical behavior of high-velocity oxyfuel (HVOF) sprayed titania (TiO2) coatings was evaluated using Vickers hardness measurements on the cross section and top surface. The distribution of hardness values for the cross-section and top surface under 25, 50, 100, 300, 500, and 1000 g loads was analyzed via Weibull statistics.

Weibull modulus of nano-hardness and elastic modulus of hydroxyapatite coating

Journal of Materials Science, 2009
Here we report the microstructural dependence of nano-hardness (H) and elastic modulus (E) of microplasma sprayed (MIPS) 230 μm thick highly porous, heterogeneous hydroxyapatite (HAP) coating on SS316L. The nano-hardness and Young’s modulus data were measured on polished plan section (PS) of the coating by the nanoindentation technique with a Berkovich
