Finite-Size Effects on Return Interval Distributions for Weakest-Link-Scaling Systems
The Weibull distribution is a commonly used model for the strength of brittle materials and earthquake return intervals. Deviations from Weibull scaling, however, have been observed in earthquake return intervals and in the fracture strength of quasi ...

Thermal breakage of window glass in room fires conditions - Analysis of some important parameters [PDF]
In a compartment fire, the breakage and possible fallout of a window glass has a significant impact on the fire dynamics. The thermal breakage of glass depends on various parameters such as glass type, edge shading, edges conditions and constraints on ...

Microstructure and Weibull distribution of rupture strength of clay-talc ceramics
The mechanical properties of clay-talc ceramics containing 0 to 10 wt% of talc fired at 1100 °C were obtained by flexural measurements. With the average value of flexural strength of 23.1 MPa, the sample with 5 wt% of talc (G5) was the strongest and it ...

Melt Grafting of Geometry‐Tailored Voltage Stabilizers for High‐Performance Polypropylene Insulation
A scalable one‐step melt grafting strategy is developed to enhance the dielectric properties of isotactic polypropylene by covalently incorporating thermally stable aromatic voltage stabilizers. This solvent‐free approach improves volume resistivity and DC breakdown strength through deep trap formation and charge localization, offering a sustainable ...

This review outlines how understanding bone's biology, hierarchical architecture, and mechanical anisotropy informs the design of lattice structures that replicate bone morphology and mechanical behavior. Additive manufacturing enables the fabrication of orthopedic implants that incorporate such structures using a range of engineering materials ...

An innovative molecular spatial‐positioning shimming strategy is developed to optimize the electrical properties of poly(vinylidene fluoride) (PVDF). By intercalating polyethylene wax (PE wax) short‐chain molecules into PVDF's free volume, the film achieves a significantly enhanced energy density of 32.67 J cm−3.
