Linear Estimation of the Weibull Parameters

Technometrics, 1971
In this paper we consider the method of Johns and Lieberman (1966) for estimating the shape and the log of the scale parameters of the two parameter Weibull distribution. The estimates are linear, asymptotically jointly normal and efficient. The main thrust of the paper is that unlike most linear estimating procedures of the Weibull parameters, that ...

Robust Estimators of the 3-Parameter Weibull Distribution

IEEE Transactions on Reliability, 1985
Robust estimators of the location, scale, and shape parameters of the Weibull distribution are proposed. The estimators are easy to calculate and have few of the disadvantages associated with the maximum likelihood estimators. Their rms-errors are considerably smaller than those of the estimators available in the literature.

Estimation of Mixed Weibull Parameters in Life Testing

IEEE Transactions on Reliability, 1982
This paper deals with estimating parameters from a mixture of two Weibull distributions. The weighted least-squares method is used to estimate the parameters of the mixed model when data are grouped and censored. Simulation study of the variations of the weighted least-squares estimator has been carried out.

Weibull distributions when the shape parameter is defined

Computational Statistics & Data Analysis, 2001
The Weibull distribution, depending on parameters of location, scale, and shape, is often useful as a model for fracture data sets. If the location parameter is to be estimated then we have shown that maximum likelihood methods are not recommended. In the data set considered here the shape parameter is known to lie between 2 and 3 or so.

Inference on the Weibull Location Parameter

Journal of Quality Technology, 1998
A simple method is proposed for testing the 2-parameter Weibull distribution against the 3-parameter alternative. It is based on the ratio of the maximum likelihood estimate of the shape parameter calculated with the observations censored at the r1th or..

Robust and explicit estimators of Weibull parameters

2011
The Weibull distribution plays a central role in modeling duration data. Its maximum likelihood estimator is very sensitive to outliers. We propose three robust and explicit Weibull parameter estimators: the quantile least squares, the repeated median and the median/Qn estimator.

Estimation of Weibull Parameters With Competing-Mode Censoring

IEEE Transactions on Reliability, 1976
Existing results are reviewed for the maximum likelihood (ML) estimation of the parameters of a 2-parameter Weibull life distribution for the case where the data are censored by failures due to an arbitrary number of independent 2-parameter Weibull failure modes.
