Improved likelihood inferences for Weibull regression model

open access: yesJournal of Statistical Computation and Simulation, 2017
ABSTRACTA general procedure is developed for bias-correcting the maximum likelihood estimators (MLEs) of the parameters of Weibull regression model with either complete or right-censored data. Following the bias correction, variance corrections and hence improved t-ratios for model parameters are presented.

Influence of Hospital and Surgeon Volumes on Clinical Outcomes After Standard Surgery for Advanced Gastric Cancer: Supplementary Analysis of the Multicenter Randomized Phase III Trial JCOG1001

open access: yesAnnals of Gastroenterological Surgery, EarlyView.
We have evaluated interinstitutional variation to verify the generalization and standardization of gastric cancer surgery from a supplementary analysis of the randomized phase III trial JCOG1001. Although there was some degree of interinstitutional variation in short‐ and long‐term outcomes after standard gastric surgery, we found no correlation ...

Polylimonene Improves the In Vivo Wound Healing Performance of Sodium Alginate‐Based Hydrogels

open access: yesJournal of Applied Polymer Science, EarlyView.
An oligomer derived from orange peel essential oil incorporated into an alginate hydrogel was shown to be biocompatible and to exhibit a high capacity for in vivo incisional wound healing, as confirmed by experimental assays and mathematical models fitted to the data describing wound area reduction as a function of the dressing‐tissue contact time ...

Parallel Weibull regression model. [PDF]

open access: yes, 2008
This paper focuses on the lifetime analysis of parallel systems consisting of Weibull components with independent failures and covariates. The performance of the parameter estimates of two and three-component parallel systems at different values of the ...

Effect of confining pressure on fracture characteristics and mineralogical behavior of tight sandstone specimens after hydraulic fracturing

open access: yesDeep Underground Science and Engineering, EarlyView.
Hydraulic fracturing in tight sandstone and fracture propagation characteristics using backscattered electron‐scanning electron microscope (BSE‐SEM) images. Abstract This study focuses on hydraulic fracturing experiments conducted under triaxial conditions on tight sandstone specimens from Shivpuri district, Madhya Pradesh, India.

Weibull function in the estimation of the basal area dbh-distribution.

open access: yesSilva Fennica, 1986
The paper demonstrates the possibility of using data from small relascope sample plots in the derivation of the regression models which predict the Weibull function parameters for the dbh-distribution. The Weibull parameters describing the basal area dbh-

Trends in the incidence of rain rates associated with outages on fixed links operating above 10 GHz in the southern United Kingdom [PDF]

open access: yes, 2010
Studies have shown that climate change is leading to an increase in the incidence of heavy rain in the United Kingdom, particularly over winter. The major interest has been on the hydrological impacts of this increase, and so studies have focused on rain

Quantifying Parametric Influence on Cuttings Transport in Deviated Deep Wells Using Global Sensitivity Analysis Methods

open access: yesEnergy Science &Engineering, EarlyView.
Cuttings transport simulation workflow. ABSTRACT Efficient cuttings transport is essential for wellbore stability and minimizing non‐productive time in deviated and horizontal wells. This study applies global sensitivity analysis (GSA) to evaluate the influence of 14 drilling parameters on cuttings transport using WellPlanTM hydraulic simulations ...
