Late Weichselian Palaeomagnetic Reversal

Nature Physical Science, 1971
AS part of the joint European work on the establishment of a world standard section for the Pleistocene/Holocene boundary, an oriented core 14.5 m long was taken with the Swedish foil piston corer in the Botanical Garden of Gothenburg (south-west Sweden).

Weichselian sediment succession at Ruunaa, Finland, indicating a Mid‐Weichselian ice‐free interval in eastern Fennoscandia

Boreas, 2008
Core material obtained from three boreholes was studied from the Ruunaa area, Finnish northern Karelia, in order to reveal the Late Pleistocene environmental history of eastern Finland. Conventional litho‐ and biostratigraphical methods were used and suitable sediment samples were dated using quartz optically stimulated luminescence.

Weichselian palaeoenvironments at Kobbelgård, Møn, Denmark

Boreas, 1991
Lithostratigraphical and palynological investigations of a coastal cliff section at Kobbelgård, Møn (Denmark) reveal a sedimentary sequence of Weichselian age. Bedded clayey sediments are overlain by stratified silt, sand and occasional beds of clay and gravel.

Weichselian Convolution Phenomena and processes in fine sediments.

Boreas, 1982
In three excavations in the southern Netherlands and northern Belgium, the Weichselian convolutions in fine sand, silt and clay deposits were investigated, and an attempt was made towards a semi‐quantitative approach to some sediment parameters.

Early Weichselian peat at Brumunddal, southeastern Norway

Boreas, 1981
Stratigraphical investigations of an inter‐till peat in Brumunddal suggest a major interstadial of Early Weichselian age. The insect fauna and the pollen composition indicate a mean July temperature 2–3d̀C lower than today during the climatic optimum.

Weichselian chronostratigraphy and correlations

Boreas, 1981
The glacial history of the Fennoscandian ice cap beyond some 20,000 years B.P. is fairly poorly known because of the absence of a reliable dating control. The Eemian Interglacial of Europe is not dated at all. The Weichselian Glaciation seems to be characterized by three main glaciation maxima separated by two main interstadial periods (of quite ...

Weichselian glacial stage in Murchisonfjorden, Nordaustlandet, Svalbard

Boreas, 2009
Compared to the other islands in the Svalbard archipelago, Nordaustlandet offers only limited stratigraphical or sedimentological information on its Quaternary deposits. This article aims to fill the gap by presenting new results from glacial geological, sedimentological and chronological studies in the southern Murchisonfjorden area.
