Wirkungen des pleistozänen kaltzeitlichen Klimas, insbesondere des Bodenfrostes, in den Sedimenten des östlichen Ostfalen (Raum Hannover - Wolfsburg - Helmstedt -Bad Harzburg - Salzgitter-Bad - Hannover) - Teil 1 [PDF]
In this first part of the publication - a second part especially about ice-wedges and aeolian processes will follow in the next year - the abundant form inventory of diversified periglacial solifluction layers, of horizons of gelifraction, of ...

Ice-free intervals continuing into Marine Isotope Stage 3 at Sokli in the central area of the Fennoscandian glaciations [PDF]
An unusually long and continuous Late Quaternary sedimentary sequence has been preserved in a sedimentary basin formed in the Sokli Carbonatite Massif in eastern-central Finnish Lapland.

Examples of Weichselian environments: local versus regional developments [PDF]

The characteristics of settlement of Neanderthals in northern Central Europe during the earlier phases of the Middle Palaeolithic (Marine Isotope Stage 8–6) have been a matter of debate for decades, specifically regarding the population dynamics at such latitudes during the coldest phases. In this paper, we review the known archaeological record of the

Age of Blown Sand in the East Slovak Lowland—Case Study from Svätuše Sand Pit, Slovakia
A sedimentary profile consisting of blown sand capped by a sand-loam bedded interval was analysed in the Svätuše sand pit in the East Slovak Lowland. Stratigraphically, blown sands from this lowland have so far only been indirectly classified into the ...

Last deglaciation of northern continental Europe
Correlation of main ice sheet limits in northern continental Europe during Late Weichselian is presented, based on available data concerning occurrence of ice-marginal formations and their radiometric dating.

Ein frühweichselzeitliches Profil bei Rahden-Welle (nördliches Wiehengebirgsvorland, Nordrhein-Westfalen) [PDF]
During excavations for a purification plant in Rahden-Welle lower terrace depositions of the „Kleine Aue" were found. Meltwater layers of probably Saalian age were overlain by peaty, silty and sandy depositions. Pollenanalytical investigation of the peat

This review presents an investigation of the evolution of the Baltic Sea basin and its connections through the Eemian Stage, based upon sequences of marine and associated deposits from the White Sea to the Southwest Baltic, via the Karelian channel. Pollen analyses, foraminiferal and ostracod analyses provide the evolution of relative sea‐level change,

We analyse the geological processes of a coastal embayment in the Kattegat. Using high‐resolution seismic data and sediment cores, we describe a geological evolution from glacial to shallow marine stages with a variety of preserved facies from different depositional settings, including glacio‐lacustrine, telmatic, limnic and coastal environments.

We summarize the current state of knowledge on the age of the Middle Pleistocene ice advances into northern central Europe and provide 25 new single‐grain feldspar luminescence ages of Elsterian and Saalian glacigenic sediments to constrain the age of the ice advances and their tentative correlation with marine isotope stages/substages.
