Foreground and background: fractal unity of art and science
IntroductionIn the last 50 years, fractals have been embraced by both artists and scientists. In this study, we link fractals to the question: What is the relationship between art and science?

The Weierstrass representation of closed surfaces in R"3
In the present paper which a sequel to [19] and [20] a global Weierstrass representation of an arbitrary closed oriented surface of genus #>=#1 in the three-space is constructed. The Weierstrass spectrum of a torus immersed into R"3 is introduced

Theoretical enhancement of the Gaussian filtering of engineering surfaces [PDF]
This study is an extension of the current use of Gaussian filters to smooth surface texture waveforms. It suggests an extension using Hermite polynomials to improve the definition of boundary lines and edges in the geometry of structured surfaces, and to

Generalized Weierstrass representation for surfaces in Heisenberg spaces
It is well-known that constant mean curvature surfaces immersed in Euclidean \(3\)-space admit an integral representation in terms of their Gauss maps which resembles the classical Weierstrass representation for minimal surfaces, and these also have harmonic Gauss map with target given by some Grassmannian space.

In this work we extend the Weierstrass representation for maximal spacelike surfaces in the 3-dimensional Lorentz–Minkowski space to spacelike surfaces whose mean curvature is proportional to its Gaussian curvature (linear Weingarten surfaces of maximal ...

A generalized Weierstrass representation of Lorentzian surfaces in ℝ2,2 and applications [PDF]
We give a generalized Weierstrass formula for a Lorentz surface conformally immersed in the four-dimensional space [Formula: see text] using spinors and Lorentz numbers. We also study the immersions of a Lorentzian surface in the Anti-de Sitter space (a pseudo-sphere in [Formula: see text]): we give a new spinor representation formula and deduce the ...

Determinantal representations of elliptic curves via Weierstrass elliptic functions
Helton and Vinnikov proved that every hyperbolic ternary form admits a symmetric derminantal representation via Riemann theta functions. In the case the algebraic curve of the hyperbolic ternary form is elliptic, the determinantal representation of the ...
