Growth, length-weight relationship and biological information on the clearhead icefish (Protosalanx hyalocranius Abbott, 1901) in Lake Khanka (Xingkai) [PDF]

open access: yes, 2012
This paper reports the growth pattern and length-weight relationship and summarizes biological data for the clearhead icefish (Protosalanx hyalocranius) in Lake Khanka (Xingkai), on the border between China and Russia.

Every Fish Counts: Challenging Length–Weight Relationship Bias in Discards

open access: yesFishes, 2023
Bycatch is a significant issue in global fisheries and understanding the length–weight relationships (LWR) of fish species can provide valuable insights for stock assessment and management efforts.

Childhood obesity is associated with shorter leukocyte telomere length [PDF]

open access: yes, 2011
CONTEXT: Obesity in adults is associated with shorter mean leukocyte telomere length (LTL), a marker of biological age that is also associated with age-related conditions including cardiovascular disease and type 2 diabetes. However, studies of childhood

Establishing a weight-length baseline for evaluating changes in yellowfin tuna (Thunnus albacores) body condition in the Western Indian Ocean [PDF]

open access: yes, 2013
Standard weight (Ws) equations were established for yellowfin tuna (Thunnus albacares) in the Western Indian Ocean and used as a baseline for calculating relative weight (Wr) indices.

Length-weight relationships of 216 North Sea benthic invertebrates and fish [PDF]

open access: yes, 2010
Size-based analyses of marine animals are increasingly used to improve understanding of community structure and function. However, the resources required to record individual body weights for benthic animals, where the number of individuals can reach ...

MORPHOMETRIC AND MERISTIC PARAMETERS OF SARDINE (Sardina pilchardus, Walbaum, 1792) IN THE ZADAR FISHING AREA [PDF]

open access: yesCroatian Journal of Fisheries, 2010
This paper presents the results of some morphometric and meristic parameters of sardine, Sardina pilchardus (Walbaum, 1792) from coastal (Virsko more) and open waters (Dugi Otok) of the Zadar area, during the period from March 2004 to February 2005.

Length-weight and length-length relationships and condition factor of Alburnus chalcoides (Güldenstädt, 1772) populations from rivers of the southern Caspian Sea [PDF]

open access: yesبوم‌شناسی آبزیان, 2021
In This study, the length-weight and fork-total length relationships, growth pattern and condition factor of Alburnus chalcoides, was estimated during 2006-2007. A total of 170 specimens were collected from the Chelvand, Khalehsara, Siahdarvishan, Sefid,

Degradation mechanism of the von Willebrand factor A2 domain by nattokinase

open access: yesFEBS Letters, EarlyView.
Nattokinase, a natto‐derived protease, exhibits potent antithrombotic effects. This study demonstrates that nattokinase directly cleaves the von Willebrand factor (vWF) A2 domain in vitro. Unlike the native regulator ADAMTS13, nattokinase degrades folded vWF independently of shear stress.

From mice to humans—divergent strategies for intestinal homeostasis and regeneration

open access: yesFEBS Letters, EarlyView.
Recent advances such as organoid genome editing, xenotransplantation, imaging, and whole‐genome sequencing have enabled direct studies of human intestinal stem cells (ISCs). These studies reveal species‐specific features, including slower ISC proliferation, distinct injury responses, slower somatic mutation accumulation in humans, and an inverse ...

Growth of black bullhead Ameiurus melas (Rafinesque, 1820) in Corbara Reservoir (Umbria – Italy)

open access: yesKnowledge and Management of Aquatic Ecosystems, 2009
The age and growth of the invasive black bullhead Ameiurus melas (Rafinesque, 1820) were studied in the Corbara Reservoir, an artificial lake located on the River Tiber in central Italy.
