Beta Weights, Unit Weights, and other Weights
Perceptual and Motor Skills, 1987A simple example of the use of different weights with just two predictors was presented. The replacement of the beta weights by unit weights resulted in a very slight loss of predictive validity, and even the arbitrary reversal of the beta weights resulted in a smaller loss than might have been expected.

Drude weight and superconducting weight
Journal of Physics: Condensed Matter, 2018The Drude weight D (also called charge stiffness) measures the effective electron density contributing to dc conductivity; it vanishes in insulators. It is a general concept, which applies to any metal, including cases with disorder and electron-electron interaction.

Weighting models and weighting factors
Consciousness and Cognition, 2012Abstract We defend our multifactorial weighting model of the sense of agency and our critique of the comparator model ( Synofzik, Vosgerau, & Newen, 2008 ) against the critiques that have been brought forward by Carruthers, 2012 , Wong, 2012 . Building on the specification of our model that emerges from this response, we will suggest a distinct ...

Weight to Place on Birth Weight
JAMA: The Journal of the American Medical Association, 1983ABSTRACT Most of our knowledge about the correlates of birth weight and perinatal morbidity derives from studies done more than a decade ago. Thus, the effort by Hackman et al to identify previously unrecognized predictors of birth weight and unfavorable pregnancy outcome, reported in this issue of The Journal (p 2016), deserves attention.

Mindfulness Approaches and Weight Loss, Weight Maintenance, and Weight Regain
Current Obesity Reports, 2018There is an urgent need for effective weight management techniques, as more than one third of US adults are overweight or obese. Recommendations for weight loss include a combination of reducing caloric intake, increasing physical activity, and behavior modification. Behavior modification includes mindful eating or eating with awareness. The purpose of

Weight and weight velocity values for Leeds schoolchildren are included in Table 8.1 and more fully in Appendix 2. Weight centiles are shown respectively for the boys and girls in Figs. 3.1 and 3.2 and weight velocity centiles in Figs. 3.3 and 3.4. These values, based on chronological age, are compared with those of Professor Tanner in Figs.

Weighted Pseudoinversion with Indefinite Weights
Ukrainian Mathematical Journal, 2018We present the definition of weighted pseudoinverse matrices with nondegenerate weights of indefinite sign and study these matrices. The theorems on existence and uniqueness for these matrices are proved. The weighted pseudoinverse matrices with indefinite weights are represented in terms of the coefficients of characteristic polynomials of symmetrized

To Weight or not To Weight: Where is the Question?
1996We investigate the approximability properties of several weighted problems, by comparing them with the respective unweighted problems. For an appropriate (and very general) deenition of niceness, we show that if a nice weighted problem is hard to approximate within r, then its polynomially bounded weighted version is hard to approximate within r.

PART OF the clinician's job is to gather evidence; another part is to interpret it. Practically all of us are teachers of pediatrics, at least in the bonds of the Hippocratic oath if not actually on a university payroll. As such we have the dual responsibility of evaluating clinical evidence in the course of our own work with patients and of teaching ...
