LVQ with a weighted objective function

Proceedings of ICNN'95 - International Conference on Neural Networks, 2002
In competitive learning neural network, pattern clustering is one of the main research areas. Many competitive neural networks are based on vector quantization. Depending on the method of choosing the representative weight vectors, competitive neural networks have a great variety of algorithms.

Weighted Quasi-Arithmetic Means: Utility Functions and Weighting Functions

2013
This paper discusses weighted quasi-arithmetic means from viewpoint of a combined index of utility functions and weighting functions, which represent stochastic risk in economics. The combined index characterizes decision maker's attitude and background risks in stochastic environments by conditional expectation representations of weighted quasi ...

A jordan decomposition for weight functions

Rendiconti del Circolo Matematico di Palermo, 1968
Relationships between the processes of integration in two measure spaces connected by a transformation have been investigated under a variety of conditions. The role of the transformation in these studies is specified by weight functions. Under weak restrictions it has been observed that these weight functions possess Lebesgue type decompositions [4 ...

Note on Construction of Weight Functions

SIAM Journal on Mathematical Analysis, 1979
It is well known that the zeros of successive orthogonal polynomials, associated with a nonnegative weight function, are interlaced. Conversely, any two polynomials with interlaced zeros may be regarded as orthogonal polynomials associated with a nonnegative weight function. A simple construction of such a weight function is given.

Weight Constraint Programs with Functions

2009
In this paper we consider a new class of logic programs, called weight constraint programs with functions, which are lparse programs incorporating functions over non-Herbrand domains. We define answer sets for these programs and develop a computational mechanism based on loop completion. We present our results in two stages.

Neuromuscular function in weight-trainers

Experimental Neurology, 1983
Electrophysiologic measurements were made on the median-innervated thenar muscles and triceps surae in 17 weight-trainers (bodybuilders and weight-lifters) and in control subjects. In the median-innervated thenar muscles, the weight-trainers presented normal values for motor unit counts, reflex potentiation, and twitch contractile properties; however ...

On transit functions in weighted graphs

Discrete Mathematics, Algorithms and Applications, 2017
Certain types of transit functions are studied in this paper. Strong intervals and strong gates are introduced. Since there are different metrics available in weighted graphs, different intervals can be studied. Strong intervals and strong convexity arising out of strong geodesics are considered and as a consequence the concept of gate is introduced ...

Activity as a function of body weight

The American Journal of Clinical Nutrition, 1987
Thirty-one undergraduate men and women who weighed more (overweight) or who weighed less (underweight) than the normal weight limits for their height wore actometers on all four limbs 24 h each day for 14 consecutive days. All groups were found to be equally active.

Weighted Inequalities for Monotone Functions

Mathematische Nachrichten, 1995
AbstractWeighted norm inequalities are investigated by giving an extension of the Riesz convexity theorem to semi‐linear operators on monotone functions. Several properties of the classes B(p, n) and C(p, n) introduced by Neugebauer in [13] are given. In particular, we characterize the weight pairs w, v for which \documentclass{article}\pagestyle{empty}

SRAD with Weighted Diffusion Function

2013
Speckle Reducing Anisotropic Diffusion, SRAD, is a multiplicative noise reduction method. In highly speckled environment, SRAD occasionally produces over-smoothed, dislocated/broadened edge lines and inadequate de-noising on homogeneous image regions where the speckles are well developed.
