Maximum Acceptable Weight of Lift for Asymmetric Lifting
Perceptual and Motor Skills, 200310 undergraduate men were tested to determine the effects of lifting mode and frequency on psychophysically established maximum acceptable weight of lift for 4 hr. of work. The heart rate and rate of perceived exertion (RPE) of the individuals while lifting the maximum acceptable weight of lift were measured.

Maximum Acceptable Weight of Lift
American Industrial Hygiene Association Journal, 1967Abstract This paper discusses the maximum amount of weight that an individual can be expected to lift comfortably and without strain. Recommendations based on empirical estimates, biomechanical techniques, and psychophysical methods are reviewed, including those of the International Labour Office, the Swiss Accident Insurance Institute, the Danish ...

The Size-Weight Illusion in Team Lifting
Human Factors: The Journal of the Human Factors and Ergonomics Society, 2004The purpose of these studies was to examine whether or not there is a size-weight illusion when participants lift containers as a team. In Experiment 1, teams of participants lifted a set of 16 containers that varied in mass and size and reported their perceptions of heaviness and volume.
