Series, Weighted Automata, Probabilistic Automata and Probability Distributions for Unranked Trees. [PDF]

open access: yes, 2010
We study tree series and weighted tree automata over unranked trees. The message is that recognizable tree series for unranked trees can be defined and studied from recognizable tree series for binary representations of unranked trees.

Experimental Evaluation of 100Cr6 Steel Microindented Surfaces Under Lubricated Nonconformal Point Contacts

open access: yesAdvanced Engineering Materials, EarlyView.
The tribological behavior of 100Cr6 steel spheres textured via Vickers microindentation is evaluated under lubricated sliding by varying both dimple size and density. Fine and dense textures significantly reduce friction across all lubrication regimes, while large dimples increase it.

MINIMAL MODIFICATION OF AUTOMATA-BASED PROGRAMS INDUCED BY CHANGES IN THEIR TEST SCENARIOS [PDF]

open access: yesНаучно-технический вестник информационных технологий, механики и оптики, 2013
The article proposes modification method for automata-based programs induced by changes in their test scenarios. The method can also be used for constructing automata-based programs without using any prior knowledge of a program structure and without ...

Interaction between Molten Al‐Killed Mn–B Steel and Carbon‐Bonded MgO Refractories Based on Recyclates

open access: yesAdvanced Engineering Materials, EarlyView.
High‐temperature interactions between low‐sulfur Al‐killed Mn–B steel and MgO–C refractories (0 and 50 wt% recyclates) are studied via finger immersion tests (1600 °C). Surface‐active elements influence infiltration. MgO/CaS layer forms, along with spinel and calcium silicate.

Air‐Pressure–Actuated Vibroacoustic Metamaterial With Tunable Bandgap: Design, Modeling, and Characterization

open access: yesAdvanced Engineering Materials, EarlyView.
This article presents the design, modeling, and characterization of air‐pressure–actuated programmable vibroacoustic metamaterials (PVAMM). The study focuses on leveraging air pressure to dynamically tune resonance frequencies for effective noise attenuation.

Characterization of Macro/Microstructure and Corrosion Resistance of Austenitic Gas Tungsten Arc Welding Cladding

open access: yesAdvanced Engineering Materials, EarlyView.
Cladding is a proven method that boosts the surface qualities of mechanical parts by applying a layer of more durable material over a base substrate. This work responds to the needs of offshore and pressure vessels sectors by focusing on cladding a super austenitic steel onto low‐carbon steel through gas tungsten arc welding.

Finite automata for caching in matrix product algorithms

open access: yes, 2008
A diagram is introduced for visualizing matrix product states which makes transparent a connection between matrix product factorizations of states and operators, and complex weighted finite state automata.
