Juvenile predation overwhelms nutritional effects on female ungulate fat reserves in a high‐predation system

open access: yesFunctional Ecology, EarlyView.
Read the free Plain Language Summary for this article on the Journal blog. Abstract Ungulate body fat reserves reflect the nutritional environment, often serving as a useful indicator of bottom‐up resource availability. However, body fat reserves also integrate energetic costs associated with avoiding predation risk and reproductive effort, and it is ...

Apex predators exploit advantageous snow conditions across hunting modes

open access: yesJournal of Animal Ecology, EarlyView.
Advantageous snow conditions—in terms of snow depth and density—are among the most important features of the winter landscape for two apex predators, regardless of hunting strategy. In a warming climate, the knock‐on effects of a diminishing snowpack may reduce the hunting success of multiple large carnivore species.

Boundedness and Compactness of Weighted Composition Operators From Banach Spaces of Holomorphic Functions to Weighted-Type Banach Spaces on the Polydisk

open access: yesJournal of Function Spaces
In this work, we characterize the bounded and compact weighted composition operators from a large class of Banach space X of holomorphic functions on the open unit polydisk Dn into weighted-type Banach spaces of holomorphic functions on Dn.

Paley--Wiener theorems on the Siegel upper half-space

open access: yes, 2017
In this paper we study spaces of holomorphic functions on the Siegel upper half-space $\mathcal U$ and prove Paley-Wiener type theorems for such spaces. The boundary of $\mathcal U$ can be identified with the Heisenberg group $\mathbb H_n$.

Impaired Hearing and Systolic Blood Pressure as Potential Markers of Cerebral Infarction After Eclampsia: A Cross‐Sectional Study

open access: yesBJOG: An International Journal of Obstetrics &Gynaecology, EarlyView.
ABSTRACT Objective Eclampsia is associated with short‐ and long‐term neurological deficits. Identifying which women may be at risk is important. Magnetic resonance imaging shows an incidence of 30%–40% of subclinical cerebral infarcts among women with eclampsia. A simple screening tool would be useful to identify at‐risk women.

Phylogenetic trees and the tropical geometry of flag varieties [PDF]

open access: yesDiscrete Mathematics & Theoretical Computer Science, 2012
We will discuss some recent theorems relating the space of weighted phylogenetic trees to the tropical varieties of each flag variety of type A. We will also discuss the tropicalizations of the functions corresponding to semi-standard tableaux, in ...

Norm of the Bergman projection [PDF]

open access: yes, 2012
This paper deals with the the norm of the weighted Bergman projection operator $P_\alpha:L^\infty\to \mathcal{B}$ where $\alpha>-1$ and $\mathcal{B}$ is the Bloch space of the unit ball of the complex space $\mathbf{C}^n$.

Extending reliability to intensive longitudinal data with the Kalman filter

open access: yesBritish Journal of Mathematical and Statistical Psychology, EarlyView.
Abstract Reliability is central to how researchers approach measurement in standard, group‐based analyses of single‐time‐point data, yet this critical aspect is often overlooked in the analysis of repeated observations. Since its inception, reliability has been a between‐person concept, but we redevelop this notion for within‐person designs by ...

Weighted differentiation composition operators from weighted bergman space to nth weighted space on the unit disk

open access: yesJournal of Inequalities and Applications, 2011
This paper characterizes the boundedness and compactness of the weighted differentiation composition operator from weighted Bergman space to nth weighted space on the unit disk of ≤.

2-Complex Symmetric Weighted Composition Operators on the Weighted Bergman Space of the Unit Ball

open access: yesAxioms
There are two aims in this paper. One is to completely characterize complex symmetric and 2-complex symmetric weighted composition operators induced by some special symbols on the weighted Bergman space of the unit ball, and the other is to fully ...
