Monitoring GPS‐collared moose by ground versus drone approaches: efficiency and disturbance effects
Efficient wildlife management requires precise monitoring methods, for example to estimate population density, reproductive success, and survival. Here, we compared the efficiency of drone (equipped with a RGB camera) and ground approaches to detect and observe GPS‐collared female moose Alces alces and their calves. We also quantified how drone (n = 42)

MODULI SPACES OF RATIONAL WEIGHTED STABLE CURVES AND TROPICAL GEOMETRY
We study moduli spaces of rational weighted stable tropical curves, and their connections with Hassett spaces. Given a vector $w$ of weights, the moduli ...

Resource managers require accurate estimates of large herbivore abundance and demography to maintain ecological integrity. Common methods to count these species, including observations from low altitude helicopter flights, may conflict with other protected area management objectives and struggle to produce precise estimates for more cryptic species. To

Read the free Plain Language Summary for this article on the Journal blog. Abstract Ungulate body fat reserves reflect the nutritional environment, often serving as a useful indicator of bottom‐up resource availability. However, body fat reserves also integrate energetic costs associated with avoiding predation risk and reproductive effort, and it is ...

Berezin transform in polynomial Bergman spaces
We study the reproducing kernel for weighted polynomial Bergman spaces and consider applications to the Berezin transform. Some of our results have applications in random matrix theory, a topic which we discuss in a separate (companion ...

Apex predators exploit advantageous snow conditions across hunting modes
Advantageous snow conditions—in terms of snow depth and density—are among the most important features of the winter landscape for two apex predators, regardless of hunting strategy. In a warming climate, the knock‐on effects of a diminishing snowpack may reduce the hunting success of multiple large carnivore species.
