Optimum design of discrete-time differentiators via semi-infinite programming approach [PDF]

open access: yes, 2008
In this paper, a general optimum full band high order discrete-time differentiator design problem is formulated as a peak constrained least square optimization problem. That is, the objective of the optimization problem is to minimize the total weighted

Optimality of the Maximum Likelihood estimator in Astrometry

open access: yes, 2018
The problem of astrometry is revisited from the perspective of analyzing the attainability of well-known performance limits (the Cramer-Rao bound) for the estimation of the relative position of light-emitting (usually point-like) sources on a CCD-like ...

Full-Observable Three-Phase State Estimation Algorithm Applied to Electric Distribution Grids

open access: yesEnergies, 2019
This paper proposes the development of a three-phase state estimation algorithm, which ensures complete observability for the electric network and a low investment cost for application in typical electric power distribution systems, which usually exhibit

WEIGHTED‐AVERAGE LEAST SQUARES (WALS): A SURVEY [PDF]

open access: yesJournal of Economic Surveys, 2014
AbstractModel averaging has become a popular method of estimation, following increasing evidence that model selection and estimation should be treated as one joint procedure. Weighted‐average least squares (WALS) is a recent model‐average approach, which takes an intermediate position between frequentist and Bayesian methods, allows a credible ...

Forecasting technology costs via the Learning Curve - Myth or Magic? [PDF]

open access: yes, 2006
To further our understanding of the effectiveness of learning or experience curves to forecast technology costs, a statistical analysis using historical data has been carried out.

RSSD-based 3-D localization of an unknown radio transmitter using weighted least square and factor graph

open access: yesEURASIP Journal on Wireless Communications and Networking, 2019
Realizing accurate detection of an unknown radio transmitter (URT) has become a challenging problem due to its unknown parameter information. A method based on received signal strength difference (RSSD) fingerprint positioning technique and using factor ...

Weighted fuzzy clustering for (fuzzy) constraints in multivariate image analysis–alternating least square of hyperspectral images

open access: yesJournal of Spectral Imaging, 2016
In order to investigate hyperspectral images, many techniques such as multivariate image analysis (MIA) or multivariate curve resolution–alternating least squares (MCR–ALS) can be applied.

The (Glg)ABCs of cyanobacteria: modelling of glycogen synthesis and functional divergence of glycogen synthases in Synechocystis sp. PCC 6803

open access: yesFEBS Letters, EarlyView.
We reconstituted Synechocystis glycogen synthesis in vitro from purified enzymes and showed that two GlgA isoenzymes produce glycogen with different architectures: GlgA1 yields denser, highly branched glycogen, whereas GlgA2 synthesizes longer, less‐branched chains.

Adaptive model selection method for a conditionally Gaussian semimartingale regression in continuous time

open access: yes, 2018
This paper considers the problem of robust adaptive efficient estimating of a periodic function in a continuous time regression model with the dependent noises given by a general square integrable semimartingale with a conditionally Gaussian distribution.
