Influence of TiC and TiN Ceramic Reinforcements on the Microstructure, Thermal Expansion Behavior, and Tensile Properties of Invar 36 Manufactured by Laser Powder Bed Fusion

open access: yesAdvanced Engineering Materials, EarlyView.
This study examines Invar composites reinforced with titanium carbide (TiC) and titanium nitride (TiN) using laser powder bed fusion (LPBF). It presents the influence of reinforcements on microstructure, tensile properties, and thermal expansion. Results show that TiC effectively strengthens Invar while maintaining low thermal expansion, whereas TiN ...

Locally kernel weighted maximum likelihood estimator for local linear multi-predictor poisson regression

open access: yesMethodsX
We introduce a new multi-predictor regression model based on the Poisson distribution using a local linear approach called the local linear multi-predictor Poisson regression.

A Comparative Analysis of the Distributions of KFC and McDonald’s Outlets in China

open access: yesISPRS International Journal of Geo-Information, 2016
Mainland China has become one of the most important markets for international fast-food chains over the past decade. To study the regional spread of KFC and McDonald’s outlets in Chinese cities, the correlation of their distributions and degree of market

The effect of sociodemographic factors on COVID-19 incidence of 342 cities in China: a geographically weighted regression model analysis

open access: yesBMC Infectious Diseases, 2021
Background Since December 2019, the coronavirus disease 2019 (COVID-19) has spread quickly among the population and brought a severe global impact. However, considerable geographical disparities in the distribution of COVID-19 incidence existed among ...

A Novel Approach to Estimate the Transition Temperature via Dynamic Nanoindentation

open access: yesAdvanced Engineering Materials, EarlyView.
A new dynamic nanoindentation‐based method was developed that uses the stiffness ratio as an indicator of the elastic–plastic deformation contributions at different temperatures. The approach successfully identified transition temperatures in ferritic steel and distinguished them from continuously ductile austenitic steel.

Effect of Cu and CuP Additions on the Microstructure and Nanoindentation‐Based Fracture Behavior of CoNiAlSi Ferromagnetic Shape Memory Alloys

open access: yesAdvanced Engineering Materials, EarlyView.
Cu and combined Cu–P microalloying refine the microstructure and enhance the nanoindentation‐derived fracture resistance of CoNiAlSi ferromagnetic shape memory alloys without suppressing the martensitic transformation. Comparative SEM, DSC, and nanoindentation results reveal that the CuP‐containing alloy provides the most balanced response, achieving ...

A Stochastic Model for Claim Count Data [PDF]

open access: yesThe Egyptian Statistical Journal
In actuarial science, weighted and mixed Poisson distributions are widely employed for claim count modeling due to their flexibility in handling over-dispersed data.

Chemical State Detection and Charge Transfer in Complex Oxide Heterostructures via In Situ Auger Electron Spectroscopy

open access: yesAdvanced Functional Materials, EarlyView.
In situ Auger Electron Spectroscopy resolves oxidation states with high fidelity during the pulsed laser deposition of multivalent perovskite manganate and vanadate heterostructures. The chemical‐state signature is carried by the valence‐electron population of the transition‐metal cation, read out through the relative intensities of Auger fine ...

Coordinated Architectural and Chemical Reinforcement in the Crushing Mandible of a Soldier Termite

open access: yesAdvanced Functional Materials, EarlyView.
The crushing mandible of a soldier termite withstands substantial biting loads despite lacking mineral. Its cuticle is partitioned: convex teeth pair hardness and zinc enrichment with aligned chitin fibers for contact durability, while stiffer concave regions between teeth carry bending loads.
