Muscle functional characteristics of Latvian weightlifters in lightweight categories [PDF]

open access: yes, 2015
To predict the potential physical abilities of weightlifters, it is recommended to follow the complex methodology for assessing the weightlifter in certain weightlifting competition exercise. Our aim of the study was to investigate the muscle contraction

Achieving High ON State Current through Ferroelectric Polarization‐Dependent Interfacial Resistance Switching in Undoped Orthorhombic HfO2 Films

open access: yesAdvanced Functional Materials, EarlyView.
Ferroelectric tunnel junction devices based on epitaxial undoped ferroelectric HfO2 films demonstrate stable switching endurance of over 106 switching cycles, low write voltages of ±3 V, 16 measured resistance states, and neuromorphic capability.

Glissile Interphase Boundaries Enable Collective Phase Switching in Epitaxial Polar Oxides

open access: yesAdvanced Functional Materials, EarlyView.
A triple point is identified in the phase diagram of low‐symmetry epitaxial BiFeO3 thin film along with an extended regime of phase competition associated with a flattened energy landscape. The electromechanical response is shown to be governed by correlated interphase‐boundary motion, including scale‐free avalanche dynamics characteristic of systems ...

Bio‐Inspired Synthesis of Macroporous Single Crystal Particles as Scattering Agents

open access: yesAdvanced Functional Materials, EarlyView.
A general strategy is presented that delivers unique, single‐crystal microparticles that combine submicron macroporosity and uniform particle shapes. A bioinspired approach is used to occlude three distinct types of additives – polystyrene microspheres, polymer vesicles and amino acids – within calcite single crystals, and subsequent thermal annealing ...

Proneness to Eating Disorders: Weightlifters Compared to Exercisers

open access: yes, 2000
Previous findings were confirmed suggesting that weightlifters may be more prone to eating disorders than are casual exercisers. 25 weightlifters' mean eating disorder score was significantly higher than that of 25 casual exercisers when contrasted for ...

Biomechanical profile of the snatch in Singapore National Olympic weightlifters

open access: yes, 2023
Traditionally, kinematic, and kinetic analysis of weightlifting movement is done in a laboratory setting which is hard to implement in a field setting. This study uses a field-based method using in-shoe force sensors and videos to conduct biomechanical ...
