SYNOPSIS Five young men developed sudden severe headache and neck pain while weightlifting. They had no evidence of pheochromocytoma, emotional turmoil, neurological or radiological abnormality. Pull or tear of ligaments is suggested as one possible cause, with rest and cautious neglect as a logical therapeutic approach.
