A new additive ratio assessment (ARAS) method in multicriteria decision‐making / Naujas adityvinis kriterijų santykių įvertinimo metodas (aras) daugiakriteriniams uždaviniams spręsti

open access: yesTechnological and Economic Development of Economy, 2010
Multicriteria decision‐making (MCDM) methods are used in many areas of human activities. Each alternative in a multicriteria decision‐making problem can be described by a set of criteria. Criteria can be qualitative and quantitative.

Weighted cages

open access: yesDiscrete Applied Mathematics
Cages ($r$-regular graphs of girth $g$ and minimum order) and their variants have been studied for over seventy years. Here we propose a new variant, "weighted cages". We characterize their existence; for cases $g=3,4$ we determine their order; we give Moore-like bounds and present some computational results.

Tau acetylation at K331 has limited impact on tau pathology in vivo

open access: yesFEBS Letters, EarlyView.
We mapped tau post‐translational modifications in humanized MAPT knock‐in mice and in amyloid‐bearing double knock‐in mice. Acetylation within the repeat domain, particularly around K331, showed modest increases under amyloid pathology. To test functional relevance, we generated MAPTK331Q knock‐in mice.

BODY WEIGHT AND ORGAN WEIGHT IN RATS

open access: yesThe KITAKANTO Medical Journal, 1962
To define the standard for the normal physiological status of rats, about 300 Wistar strain rats, bred in our department, were examined for body weight gain with age in day, and weight of 11 organs-hypophysis, thyroid, adrenal, thymus, testis, ovary, uterus, heart, liver, spleen and kidney-were obtained for each body weight group.

Calpain small subunit homodimerization is robust and calcium‐independent

open access: yesFEBS Letters, EarlyView.
Calpains dimerize via penta‐EF‐hand (PEF) domains. Using single‐molecule force spectroscopy, we measured the strength and kinetics of PEF–PEF homodimer binding. The interaction is robust, shows a transient conformational step before dissociation, and remains largely insensitive to Ca2+.

Structural insights into an engineered feruloyl esterase with improved MHET degrading properties

open access: yesFEBS Letters, EarlyView.
A feruloyl esterase was engineered to mimic key features of MHETase, enhancing the degradation of PET oligomers. Structural and computational analysis reveal how a point mutation stabilizes the active site and reshapes the binding cleft, expading substrate scope.

Gut microbiome and aging—A dynamic interplay of microbes, metabolites, and the immune system

open access: yesFEBS Letters, EarlyView.
Age‐dependent shifts in microbial communities engender shifts in microbial metabolite profiles. These in turn drive shifts in barrier surface permeability of the gut and brain and induce immune activation. When paired with preexisting age‐related chronic inflammation this increases the risk of neuroinflammation and neurodegenerative diseases.
