When to Adjust for Multiple Testing: A Unifying Guiding Principle

open access: yesBiometrical Journal, Volume 68, Issue 4, August 2026.
ABSTRACT Most original articles published in the medical literature report the results of multiple statistical tests. In a few simple cases, there is agreement on whether to adjust for the number of performed tests. For many cases encountered in practice, however, this is less clear, and the recommendations in the literature are contradictory, along ...

Transition–Transversion Bias at the CYTB Gene Level in the Order Cypriniformes (Actinopterygii) as Evidence for the Influence of Metabolic Rate on Molecular Evolutionary Rate

open access: yesEcology and Evolution, Volume 16, Issue 7, July 2026.
Families and subfamilies inhabiting temperate regions exhibit increasing transition frequencies and decreasing transversion frequencies with increasing genetic divergence, resulting in a pronounced transition–transversion bias. In contrast, tropical taxa show the opposite pattern, with elevated transversion frequencies and a markedly weaker bias.
