On the Effect of Width of Weir in the Suppressed Weirs

open access: yesTransactions of the Japan Society of Mechanical Engineers, 1961
In order to see the effect of width of weir b, experiments are performed for b=0.2, 0.1, 0.05, 0.025, and 0.0125 m when D=0.2 m, and for b=0.025 m when D=0.1 m. According as the magnitude b decreases, the drop of hydraulic gradient (water surface) increases. Consequently, the coefficient of discharge deviates from that of c when b is large.

Machine Learning‐Assisted Design and Performance Prediction of a Compact Dual‐Band Polarization‐Insensitive THz Metamaterial Absorber for Skin‐Cancer‐Related Refractive‐Index Sensing

open access: yesAdvanced Electronic Materials, EarlyView.
A compact QASRR‐based THz metamaterial absorber enables polarization‐insensitive dual‐band absorption and skin‐cancer‐related refractive‐index sensing through measurable resonance shifts. Field, surface‐current, and circuit analyses clarify the dual‐resonance mechanism, while StackNet‐assisted prediction accurately estimates the simulated absorption ...

Streamlining Diagnosis of Bardet–Biedl Syndrome: New Diagnostic Algorithm With Updated Criteria

open access: yesAmerican Journal of Medical Genetics Part A, EarlyView.
ABSTRACT Considerable advances have been made in our understanding of Bardet–Biedl syndrome (BBS), particularly in its core clinical features and molecular genetics, warranting an update to the existing diagnostic criteria framework. Using a rigorous, evidence‐based, and consensus‐driven process, a multidisciplinary group of international experts and ...

Strategies for inducing diabetes in laboratory animals: Advances from chemical, surgical, immunologic, dietary, and genetic approaches

open access: yesAnimal Models and Experimental Medicine, EarlyView.
This review summarizes the principal experimental approaches used to induce diabetes in animal models. Strategies include chemical agents (streptozotocin, alloxan, dithizone, gold thioglucose), dietary interventions (high‐fat and high‐sugar diets), surgical methods (total or partial pancreatectomy), genetic models (db/db, ob/ob, Goto‐Kakizaki [GK ...

Optimasi Hidraulik Penanganan Gerusan di Hilir Bendung

open access: yesJurnal Teknik Hidraulik, 2018
Scouring issues which occured at downstream of a weir can potentially endangers the weirs structureif the hydraulic jump is not properly dissipated, especially when the downstream river bed is unprotected.

Viscoelastic Thermovibrational Flow Driven by Sinusoidal and Pulse (Square) Waves

open access: yesFluids, 2021
The present study aims to probe the role of an influential factor heretofore scarcely considered in earlier studies in the field of thermovibrational convection, that is, the specific time-varying shape of the forcing used to produce fluid motion under ...
