Energy Parameters of Weld Formation Process in MIG-MAG Welding
Materials Science Forum, 2018The article presents results of an experimental study and simulation of the effect of welding arc energy characteristics on the nature of electrode metal transfer in MIG-MAG welding. Based on the research results, a method has been developed for determining the coefficient of welding arc plasma flow pressure.

Wave formation in explosive welding
The Philosophical Magazine: A Journal of Theoretical Experimental and Applied Physics, 1968Abstract The interface between explosively welded metals frequently exhibits a regular wave-like profile. The circumstances under which such a profile develops are not fully understood, and existing theories fail to predict some of its observed characteristics.

Modelling the process of formation of welding aerosol in welding of mining equipment
Welding International, 2012The thermodynamic model of the formation of welding aerosol is proposed. The thermodynamic parameters of chemical compounds and aerosol phases are calculated. A program is proposed for the numerical calculation of the level of generation of various elements with the variation of the parameters which control the welding conditions.

A statistical model of crack formation in welds
Engineering Fracture Mechanics, 1984Abstract It is shown that an exponential distribution of defect depth follows from the results of a Monte Carlo simulation and from combinatorical arguments, if the formation of cracks in welds is considered as a random process. Simple relations between the model parameters, the parameter of the exponential distribution function and the expected ...

Formation Mechanism of Diffusion Welded Joint [PDF]
In this study, solid state diffusion welding behavior of titanium alloys was investigated. Formation mechanism of diffusion welding process in six stages is proposed, which is based on cavitation process. The specimens were diffusion welded at elevated temperature under a hydrostatic pressure in an inert environment and the results confirmed the ...

The influence of metallurgy on the formation of welding aerosols
J. Environ. Monit., 2002Recent research has indicated that insoluble ultrafine aerosols (ie., particles whose physical diameters are less than 100 nm) may cause adverse health effects due to their small size, and that toxicological response may be more appropriately represented by particle number or particle surface area.

Formation of primary particles in welding fume
Journal of Aerosol Science, 2013Abstract The formation of primary particles in the welding fume with regard to gas phase ionization is studied. It is shown that the classical theory is applicable only to the initial moment of condensation of the metals' vapors. The fast coagulation of nuclei leads to the formation of droplets which can unrestrictedly grow and get charged.

Weld defect formation in FSWed coppers
Journal of Materials Engineering and Performance, 2014This work was undertaken to explore the formation of weld defects in FSWed copper metals via both numerical and experimental approaches. The 4 mm-thick copper sheets were friction stir welded at a tool rotational speed of 710 rpm and tool translational speed of 40 mm/min. Microstructural evaluations were performed on the welded specimens.

Microstructural formation in longitudinal bicrystal welds
Metallurgical Transactions A, 1993The formation and selection processes in dendritic microstructures that occur during the welding of two differently oriented Fe-15 wt pct Ni-15 wt pct Cr single-crystal pieces were analyzed. The specimens were oriented by X-ray diffraction and cut along precise crystallographic orientations in order to weld specific surfaces in a manner that joined two
