Weldability Windows for Explosive Cladding of Dissimilar Metals

Advanced Materials Research, 2012
Explosive welding is achieved by the application of pressure, released from explosives, sufficient to cause large plastic deformation at the interface of dissimilar metals being welded. This study addresses the analytical estimation of the weldability domain for Aluminium-Low carbon steel and Copper-Stainless steel combinations.

Weldability Window for High-Velocity Impact Welding of Al and Ti Plates Obtained by Numerical Simulation

Key Engineering Materials, 2022
In this study, the process of high-velocity impact welding of commercially pure Al and Ti plates was simulated using smoothed particle hydrodynamics (SPH) method. The paper aimed to determine by numerical simulation the range of collision parameters suitable for Al and Ti welding, and to compare the results obtained with the known semi-empirical models

Study of the elaboration of a practical weldability window in magnetic pulse welding

Journal of Materials Processing Technology, 2013
Abstract This work investigates the elaboration of a weldability window of an aluminium alloy 6060T6 tubular assembly welded by magnetic pulse welding. A destructive test is used to characterize the weld quality. The fractographic analysis of the fracture surface combined with the analysis of the macrographic section of the welded joint allows ...

Underwater shock wave weldability window for Sn-Cu plates

Journal of Materials Processing Technology, 2019
Abstract In this paper, the effects of the heat input and depth of water (d) on the welding interface of tin − copper are discussed using underwater explosive welding technique. An increase in the water depth caused a reduction in the parameters of wavy morphology at the interface.

Study on weldability window and interface morphology of steel tube and tungsten alloy rod welded by explosive welding

International Journal of Refractory Metals and Hard Materials, 2019
Abstract The explosive welding of the axisymmetric 30CrMnSi tube and tungsten alloy rod was studied. Through theoretical analysis, the weldability window of these two metals was obtained, which could enable the prediction of the welding interface morphology under different explosive conditions.

Arbitrary Lagrangian Eulerian FEA Method to Predict Wavy Pattern and Weldability Window During Magnetic Pulsed Welding

open access: yesVolume 1: Processing, 2015
Finite element simulations of high strain rate forming processes have received significant attention over the last decade. For instance, in Magnetic Pulsed Welding (MPW), extremely high plastic strain regions develop. Thus, a traditional pure Lagrangian analysis is not able to accurately model the process due to excessive element distortion near the ...

Underwater Explosive Welding, Discussion Based on Weldable Window

AIP Conference Proceedings, 2006
A new method of underwater explosive welding is introduced and its possibilities are suggested. In the underwater explosive welding, a high explosive with detonation velocity of 7km/s is placed at an initial inclined angle to decrease the horizontal collision point velocity, which is one of the important parameters to achieve welding.
