Welding Interface in Magnetic Pulse Welded Joints
Materials Science Forum, 2010Magnetic pulse welding was applied to the lap joining of similar (Al/Al) and dissimilar materials (Al/Fe, Al/Cu, and Al/Ni). The magnetic pulse welding is a kind of impact welding represented by explosive welding. The impact energy is induced by electromagnetic force generated by interaction among discharge pulse, induced magnetic flux, and eddy ...

Materials at High Temperatures, 2006
The integrity of welded joints is of prime importance from many viewpoints, not least of which are the safety and economy of plant operation. A previous IMechE seminar discussing high temperature welds indicated that welded joints in pressure vessels are the least tractable in terms of design. Progress since then has been minimal.

Inadequate clearance can affect weld quality and efficiency. In extreme cases, obstructions may cause a lack of fusion between the base metal and the weld metal, causing a reduction in strength. Although flux cored arc welding (FCAW) and gas metal arc welding (GMAW) have replaced shielded metal arc welding (SMAW) as the primary fabrication processes ...
