Analysis of microstructural evolution and mechanical properties of FGH101 powder superalloy and IN718 deformed superalloy via inertia friction welding

open access: yesFrontiers in Materials
Nickel-based superalloys are indispensable in aerospace engines due to their exceptional high-temperature strength, oxidation resistance, and corrosion resistance, making them critical for joining processes such as inertia friction welding (IFW), which ...

Method of welding joint in closed vessel improves quality of seam [PDF]

open access: yes, 1964
To facilitate welding of closed vessels, a metal backup strip is used at the junction inside the vessel. After welding from the outside, this strip is dissolved by a chemically reactive solvent poured through a filler hole into the ...

Performance‐Recoverable Closed‐Loop Neuroprosthetic System

open access: yesAdvanced Materials, EarlyView.
A self‐healing and stretchable bilayer (SSB) electrode with spontaneous performance recovery consists of a nanomembrane (closely packed aligned Pt‐coated Ag nanowires embedded in the self‐healing polymer) and a nanocomposite (Pt‐coated Ag flakes in the self‐healing polymer).

Nickel Hydroxide Catalyzed Bias‐free Photoelectrochemical NH3 Production via Nitrate Reduction

open access: yesAdvanced Materials, EarlyView.
A bias‐free photoelectrochemical nitrate reduction reaction with high efficiency and production rate is achieved using a crystalline silicon photocathode with nickel as the catalyst. Performing the PEC NO3RR under alkaline conditions can be self‐activated of the Ni surface by forming Ni(OH)2.

Extremely thin intermetallic layer in dissimilar AA6061-T6 and mild steel friction stir lap welding using a hemispherical tool

open access: yesScientific Reports
The dissimilar friction stir lap welding of AA6061-T6 and mild steel using the hemispherical tool tilted towards the retreating side is investigated. Critical defects such as hook features and internal voids are avoided by limiting the plunge depth in ...

Closed‐Loop and Sustainable 4D Printing of Multi‐Stimuli‐Responsive Sulfur‐Rich Polymer Composites for Autonomous Task Execution

open access: yesAdvanced Materials, EarlyView.
Closed‐loop and sustainable 4D printing of sulfur‐rich polymer composites is demonstrated for the first time using loosely crosslinked poly(phenylene polysulfide) networks (PSNs) and their magnetic composites (MPSNs). 3D‐printed PSNs and MPSNs exhibit shape‐morphing capabilities and can be directly reprinted into new form factors and magneto‐responsive
